Works great and easy to use just make sure the wood you use is sanded well. I did not sand mine bc I bought a premade sign and didn’t think about it but then when I started to heat it it bled so badly into the grains and smudged my lettering :( but pens great!!!

I does exactly what it supposed to do! The only thing you have to pay attention to is the amount you put on. A little bit goes a long way. Also pay attention to what type of wood you use. Real wood looks the best! The thin wood coasters you can buy on here don't work so well. It bleeds into the fibers and isnt a clean design. Happy Crafting!!!

I think this is pretty cool! I was surprised to use it and see that it actually worked. Other reviewers said they didn't have good luck with theirs, and I'm not sure why, unless their heat source isn't hot enough. I have a heat gun I bought from Amazon a while back and it's perfect for this. If you can use a marker, you can do this. The only negative I could see is that the chemical that allows this pen to work the way it does bleeds when it comes in to contact with wood - some wood more than others, so you may not end up with a tight line like you may wish to have - that's why I gave it four stars. All in all, pretty good tool.

I tried these and they ran through the stencil . . Not giving up yet hopefully to find a trick to stop this from happening.

Easy to use and get that wood burned look on small projects!!

Before I could finish the stencil it was already bleeding and spreading out through the wood. Maybe it works on finished wood better. The coasters were unfinished.

I used this pen to draw out an image on wood. I used my heat gun to burn the image. It worked great. You press the tip down a few times till the liquid starts coming out. Then you draw like you would with a marker. It comes with an extra tip.

I purchased this to incorporate custom personalization on my ocean resin art which I pour on birch wood! After using a stencil I had created with my Cricut I lightly filled in my stencil area with the pen after priming it. *Please note I had watched several you tube videos regarding ‘A’ scorched pen, keyword ‘A’* The reason I say lightly is because I had seen if you put too much of the marker fluid on there is a greater chance it will bleed. This marker fluid does burn very quickly, but unfortunately it bled soooo bad that it kind of looks like mold forming on the wood from moisture. The bleeding occurred even after sealing my piece twice with Rustoleum clear coat as you will see in the photo! It’s Bad! REALLY BAD! I honestly feel even if it did not bled it looks more like I have used a black or very dark marker to color in the stencil opposed to a burned look.I know there are other brands out there to try. However after a couple weeks of trial and error I finally was able to obtain the burned wood look by mixing a heaping teaspoon of Ammonia Chloride into a half cup of warm water then adding a 1/4 teaspoon of corn starch and mixed until dissolved! Cornstarch is the key! This prevents bleeding tremendously! I then took a paint brush and still very lightly painted the solution on the area (trying to stay within the area only) and lightly dabbing it with a rag. (Of course I did seal my piece first once with Rustoleum Clear) I just figured it’s better to be safe than sorry when it comes to that awful bleeding. I then started to apply heat with my heat gun (NO YOU CANNOT USE A BLOW DRYER) and it took much longer for it to start burning then it did with the marker! The marker was almost instantly which was great! But this way does take a few minutes longer to start burning! And the best thing about of course is NO BLEEDING! I strongly believe this is due to the cornstarch which thickens the liquid so it really cannot flow under the stenciled area! Another amazing thing about the solution was that I was able to control the gradient of the burn simply by placing a heat resistant object over areas (i used a ceramic plate) I did not want to burn more! It came out amazing and definitely has an ombré burn look in the words!
