Best Portable Player We've Ever Owned
We purchased this item for two reasons: (a) Twice yearly we take road trips in excess of 8 hours, and a portable DVD player helps keep our child distracted for part of the journey and (b) my wife and I don't have a television in our bedroom; periodically, my wife will have bouts of insomnia and she'll use our portable DVD player to keep her occupied until she can finally drift off.Over the last decade, we've owned several different models of portable DVD player. This was our first portable Blu Ray player. When this one dies, we'll probably buy it again.I was extremely impressed with this product - quite literally from the moment I opened the box. The way the unit was packed was almost comical. It was completely encased in bubble wrap. When we finally got it started, it passed the two major tests my wife and I have for portable players: It had a really fast load time - 30 seconds and we were seeing the FBI warning - and the picture was incredible. I know we shouldn't be surprised that a Blu Ray player would produce such a crisp image, but c'mon! It's a portable player! Seriously, the picture was really nice.I will acknowledge that there is a high-frequency 'whirling' sound produced by this machine (others have commented on it here). If you've ever owned a portable player before (and as I mentioned, we've had several), then you'll know that no portable player is silent. The reason I give this five stars is because for all the noise, this is THE QUIETEST unit we've ever owned. To clarify: It DOES make noise, but we felt it's barely noticeable and if you buy any portable DVD player, you are GOING to get noise. The noise is quiet enough that you can't hear it in the car. If you're putting it on in your bedroom, you'll notice it. Once the movie starts, you won't.A few more notes: We laughed ourselves silly over the remote control - it is unnecessarily complicated. I'm not going to mark this unit down because of it only because it's a remote control. It does what it needs to do. The only problem my wife has faced is that the buttons that are on the unit to control the player are flush under the screen (as seen in the picture). This looks really slick, but if it's dark and you're trying to start a movie or navigate the main menu, you can't really feel your way to the button you need.In the final analysis: This is a solid, portable Blu Ray player that looks sharp and does exactly as advertised. I'd highly recommend it.

Great Portable System - Works Great
Bought this unit for my 7 year old granddaughter to use when we travel. The system worked flawlessly and my granddaughter figured out how to use it very quickly. Unit comes with all the necessary cable and even a case that straps to the back of the car seat. Although it comes with a remote; didn't need to use it. Volume was okay but she used headphones for the most part. Would strongly recommend you get quality headphones which will enhance the experiences.

Great Portable Bluray player
I researched this product thoroughly before purchasing and did have some concerns about some of the negative reviews I read. Honestly, I must have gotten a good one as it performs flawlessly. Great picture. Great convenience and utility.Buying these mass made Chinese products is kind of like rolling the dice I know...but I would venture a guess that more often than not, you get a good one- in addition to what you paid for. But hey, if you get a defective one just send it back for free with Amazon and get a replacement.I connected an "Oontz" portable speaker which provides incredible sound and only adds to the viewing experience. In addition, by doing so I'm getting 3 to 4 hours of use on one charge and it has yet to die on me. I've watched 2 complete movies at one sitting and it showed no signs of battery diminishing which is very good for a portable. Many reviews indicate that it is noisy. When the unit first fires up and you inset a disk up of course there is some noise when the disk spins etc (what player doesnt?) but after initial start-up I notice no (repeat NO) noticeable noise, in fact - it is pleasantly quiet allowing for a great viewing experience.I did have to give it 4 stars rather than 5 because the remote is kind of a joke...But certainly not a show stopper. Much like any technological device, dropping this once will probably be the end and I doubt it would survive being mishandled by young children for very long. With proper care and handling I would suspect this product will last a long time. (If it doesn't, I will surely come back with a detailed update!)I would buy it again and would definitely reccomend.

Awesome portable blu Ray player!
I absolutely love it! It plays so many different type of formats. It's light weight. Has great sound and picture quality. I didn't even mess with the settings yet. So far, it's playing all my blu rays, as recent as 2016. I tried "Memories of the Sword" while in a bar, drinking a beer with a friend, and the volume was only at 30%, and we can still hear the movie just fine, despite the loud bar music. It is not region unlocked. But, that's okay. The disk spinning, is not as loud as people make it seem in their reviews. It can connect via hdmi to a tv. It has a usb port, that I can charge the player with an external battery. Or you can insert a flash drive. This portable blu Ray player is worth the price! My friend is already going to buy one. I highly recommend this portable blu ray player.Update: 10/19/2016I tried the hdmi, I tried the flash drive, and everything works fine. This portable blu ray player also plays blu rays my PS3 does not. I really love this blu ray player. The purchase was worth it! I might snag another as a back up.

Not what I expected
Kind of disappointed. It plays good, picture quality is good, sound is decent, but when hooked up to a TV and you close the unit the remote won't work, the sensor is on the inside next to the screen. the disc lid is flimsy, does not seat right and barely opens up enough to get the disc in. also while running the drive system is really noisy while changing modes. The carrying case is kind of cheap too. I don't think it is worth the $200. maybe $110.
