You need one like this.
Is an incredible equipment, Is Not a Focusrite, but works with good quality, fulfilling the expectations and giving much more. And all with a real low price. Great for live presentations and for basic recordings in the studio.

I love the PRE 8 pre amp, it's exactly what I need for my Allen and Heath Ice 16 digital recording deck
Thanks to two of these I can now record 16 tracks of audio anywhere from a box that weighs less tan 50 pounds.and I don't need a computer to record.

Buyer Beware
I'm sorry I purchased this product. Would not recommend because it has a 17V 1000 mA power supply.

Low cost analog preamps that can be used for professional live recordings.
I use two of PR8E with MOTU 16A and use for live recordings.Negatives: 1. The metal box is flimsy and has sharp corners. Be a little careful for avoiding cutting fingers, although no problem after installed in a rack mount box. 2. Gain controls made noises into output when the knobs are turned, but noises were eventually gone after the knobs were turned from end to end several times. 3. Low cost parts, switches and variable resisters, are employed. After a year of use, they have not made trouble yet.Positives: 1. Nice to have phantom power switches on each channel on the front panel. 2. XLR- 1/4 combo inputs on the front panel allow me to connect microphone cables easily on live setting up situations. 2. Gain control range is large enough for all of my condenser microphones and for many live recording situations. 3. Low noise and low distortions. Recordings of pianos, strings, horns and percussions gave me satisfactory dynamic range and sound quality. With additional ADAT SMAX preamps. I have altogether 24 channels at 24 bits 96 kHz. Recordings of small orchestras, big and small jazz bands through this preamps have been making good sound quality. An online store, from which I purchased, discontinued PR8E. Nice to find this preamp is sold at Amazon.
