Pond Outdoor SwitchBox (6-Way)

I've got this switching my pond pump, UV light and air pump, so I have the 4 outlet version in case I need another outlet.The terminal blocks on the circuit board are easy enough to use. The internal fuses are both welcome and easy to replace; I added a pressurised filter at the same time and my pump blew the internal fuse (dirty pond :-( ), but the rest kept working.My only criticism is that the cable glands are difficult to tighten as the inner nut tends to spin; the glands could maybe benefit from some sort of washer.

I purchased this to operate a pond pump, submerged pond light and a general sensor security light .I’m no electrician but I can wire a plug and if you can manage that you’ll have no problem wiring this..... live, earth neutral etc... . and some dexterity with a screw driver is needed!Ive used 3 way switches before and what I liked about this model was the large plastic screws in each corner that hold the whole thing together.They are held in the plastic casing and won’t fall out so you can’t loose them ....a small , but nice touch. The switch does seem a bit bulky once it was fixed in position but for it can always be hidden shrubbery etc...My pond light stopped working after a while on its allotted switch but the same thing occurred with a previous switch - so I won’t blame this particular one !A good buy for controlling garden electrics non the less.

As other reviewers have printed out, this connection switchbox is extremely badly designed in reality. Especially if using all three switches which is what it's sold for so why wouldn't a buyer use all three switches?The location of the light is incredibly stupid as it restricts access to the "out" connections. even professionally wired I had to use needle-nose pliers and a lot of skill to insert the various wires to the respective connectors safely.Another annoying feature, which I confess I failed to notice before purchasing, is the fact that the total load for the whole box is limited by a factory-fitted 5 amp fuse. This was a major hindrance because it meant that if all three appliances are turned on at the same time (not forgetting that there may also be an initial amp surge), as a group the total amps have to be within this limit otherwise the fuse would blow.Please be aware that I am not advocating a less safe device - rather why could it not be that the user selects the fuse themselves for the amperage that they are wiring through the device?I strongly believe that the reason the manufacturers installed a five amp fuse is that the internal connectors are so flimsy and thin, they would melt if anything with a higher current load passed through them.Which kind of says it all really...There has to be better waterproof switch boxes out there.

Perfect to install and use

The switchbox does its job but it is a really fiddly piece of kit. The terminals slots are protected by silvered plates which make it difficult to insert the bared cables and there is real a danger of disconnecting the twin cables to the indicator light while you work as they stand proud in the box, right over the output cable terminals. If you are a trained electrician, I suspect none of this would matter much but, as an amateur, I found it very frustrating. I eventually got it connected and installed but I won't be buying another one like this. Sorry!

Ideal for the job I needed it for , but very difficult to fit wires into connectors.

A good box for the money , the connectors could be a bit bigger

Robust construction, but the cable connectors could have been a bit bigger and marked L-N-E on the main internal wiring board making it quite fiddly to connect the wires and correct connection of the L-N-E wires. Check the picture in the instructions for the correct wiring.
