QUALITY FINISH
I purchased this varnish to seal my fence gate which leads from the back of my pool property to a Park behind my residence. I replaced my rear property fence and had stained everything before install the fence and purchased gate kit that allowed me to install quality cedar boards to build the gate. I have since put two coats of this varnish on both sides of the gate and the appearance is exceptional ands protected the wood. It's been three years since being sealed and has stood up to three winters with no touch up required. Having had a pool with fencing for over forty years I can attest tothe quality and durability of this product which I highly recommend especially at $19.99 in the USA. The same product in Canada and sold by Amazon is $56.99 .It certainly looks like Amazon likes to inflate certain items they resell to its Canadian market that's why I always compare and buy in USA for shipment to our US location.

Beautiful gloss finish with light amber coloring but allow longer drying than stated on label.
I used Rust-Oleum 207008 Marine Spar Varnish to finish a marine hatch cover 5/4 African Mohogany in a temperature & humidity-controlled room with a 71°F temperature and a humidity of 44%. I applied a super light - thin coat using a foam brush. I allowed 19hrs. and the first coat was not fully hard cured to the point that I would not even attempt to sand as it would just foul up the sandpaper. The finish was superb and after 19hrs was easily able to be handled but not to the point of light sanding to ally a second coat. This is a 5/4" thick Flat hatch that is 12.25" x 13.25" so there are no curves, or uneven surfaces were there may have settled a heavier coat compared to another spot. The African Mahogany was at a 18% moisture content for a year when the fist coat was applied. The 207008 Marine Spar Varnish is great but the 2hrs dry to touch and 8hs. refinish is just a guideline and with my mahogany in a controlled environment I need more like 30hrs. before light sanding and recoating and with two sides and three coats it appears that my little marine hatch will be a week+ long finishing job.

Almost chickened out
I do not know about durability long term but very happy with my results. I did my deck railings and banister. This is fool proof. It is easy application and I did not dilute it. I was afraid of the dry time but it dried to touch in a few hours and felt cured by next day. It is tough finish seems to waterproof and lovely! It is a semi gloss and really put the life back in my wood. Preparation was the most work. I scrubbed with soap and water/rinsed and allowed to dry in high heat for a day. It has been very hot in Florida. Then lightly sanded and wiped with a damp cloth diaper (no lint). Applied my first coat in one direction with brush and allowed to dry 24 hours and will lightly sand for second coat. Honestly the first coat turned out so good I am wondering if I need the second but will do it for long term durability. I am so glad I bit the bullet with prep and didn't just spray T water seal again. I am very happy with my results. If it last two years I am sold.
