The Bloody Inn

I used to own this game a few years back. I lost my old copy and thus decided to buy it again via Amazon Prime. The game is an amazing "easy to learn" game that works for family and friends who may be transitioning from run-of-the-mill retail store board games like Monopoly and specialty hobby store board games like Twilight Imperium, Arkham Horror, and Eldritch Horror. Its a great intro game into hobby gaming and also a great filler game when you don't wish to spend hours on the longer hobby games.Its essentially a card-based game that is loosely based on the events that occurred in France in the 19th century. The Red Inn known then in France as L'Auberge de Peyrebeille (The Inn of Peyerbeille) was "the site of a notorious French criminal scandal known as "the Red Inn affair". The owners of the inn, Pierre and Marie Martin, and their employee Jean Rochette were arrested in 1831 after a customer, Jean-Antoine Enjolras, was found dead by a nearby river, his skull smashed in. They were later charged with his murder. During the subsequent trial, numerous witnesses testified to other crimes committed by the accused, including up to fifty murders at the inn, and to aggravating circumstances of rape and cannibalism. There were rumors that the owners used to serve their intended victims meals containing cooked body parts of previous victims (Taken from the Wikipedia article)"So in this game you play the role of the corrupt owners of the inn. You are each given color coded "keys" to represent which rooms you control. Your job is to amass wealth through rent, murder, and theft. Sounds very American doesn't it?You can recruit amoral henchmen to join you in your less than savory machinations. They will work for you and stay with you as long as you can pay them; but the payments must be in cash as they won't accept checks! So make sure you launder enough money in your turn in order to pay your criminal organization or they leave at the end of the round!In addition, when you kill someone you must build structures in order to hide the bodies or you can hide them under your equally morally bankrupt opponent's (The other players) structures. The downside with using your opponent's structures is that you must split any wealth gained from the unfortunate dead victim with them. To add to the intensity of the game this all must be done in order to avoid the scrutiny of the policemen who regularly visit the inn to stay. If there is an exposed body after a policeman stay there are repercussions for that player!Also, you may want to rethink killing your guests overnight because then you can't collect rent for your rooms in the morning!The game is relatively short, fast-paced, and again easy to learn. You'll find yourselves laughing at how some people will choose to kill the policemen rather than risk them finding bodies. The game really makes you feel like a bunch of incompetent criminals. Or you might end up holding your side with laughter as you flip over a card to its coffin side. The artwork is well done and at the same time amusing.This game was so good that when I lost my original copy (as stated earlier) I literally bought another one for my collection. My husband and I are tabletop enthusiasts and own an intimidating number of games. This one has hit the table five times in the last two weeks. That might not sound like many times, but when you own over 200 titles, it really is.In The Bloody Inn, you and your opponents are a family of murderous thieves who are competing to steal the most money by taking it from your hotel guests...but you have a code of honor: you only steal from your victims when you bury them. To accomplish your goals, you'll need accomplices capable of killing, people willing to build annexes where you can bury the bodies, associates who are willing to help you bury the bodies, and a few people on your payroll to recruit more accomplices through bribery. Each turn, you can launder money, build an annex, bribe or kill guests, or bury bodies.We love how accessible this game is, without being boring for advanced players. It can also be played solo, which is basically a "must" for me at this point. The art is also beautiful, so I highly recommend this game.

Fun and unique small game that has beautiful art. Very easy to learn, set up and play. The art is stunning. The theme is unique and there are not many games I can think of with such a theme. It is a fun little game if you only have a limited amount of time and space. Works well solo too.

The Bloody Inn is a morbid title for what is actually a very fun and fairly challenging game.It is quite unique.Was not sure I liked it at first..I love it now that I got the hang of it.Highly recommended for solo gamers.

It’s a game you can play with noobs that’s not too complicated but has enough tactic that a gamer will still enjoy it. As far as engine building goes, it’s a tough to tactic that, and there are four cards that are fairly OP for scoring in end game. Regardless, this is my current go-to game when I have people over or want something to play on a week night. More fun with more people.

One of our favorite board games to own in a while. Plays well with 2, 3 or 4 players, theres even a solitaire game mode which I have not tried yet.Its a bit difficult to teach others since the mechanics of this game are a bit uncommon, but once you get going its actually very simple; Everyone we have played with ended up enjoying it very much. There are lots of different ways to strategize, and so far (after 10+ games) we have not found any major game breaking flaws. Its also nice that this game is really easy to setup and put away, and with a pretty small box, it doesn't take up a lot of space.

Welcome to the Bloody Inn, a place where a nightcap either means a restful nights sleep or the last night of your life.The Bloody Inn is a 4-player game where you and the other players are innkeepers and try to get as much money as you can, either by having guests stay the night in your assigned room or by murdering guests and disposing of the body. But you have to be careful, because police can visit the Bloody Inn and if you get caught with a corpse and no where to hide the body, you have to pay a steep price.The Bloody Inn is a good 'change of pace' game, as its play style is very unique. There are turn cards that help you remember what you can and cannot do, it's not overly complicated and easy to setup. It also forces you to think multiple turns ahead, that way you don't get caught unprepared and can extort other players when they're in a bind (that's not technically in the rule book, but this game just begs for that).Overall, I'd say it's a good buy with moderate to high replayability, depending on who you game with.

To be honest i didnt have high expectations, i was drawn to this by its theme, got it on the table with my wife and we seriously had fun.Its a casual game though not for hardcore gamersAnd not for kids if your avoiding killing and burying bodies.

Adoro questo gioco dai disegni e dal tema un po' creepy.Molto interessante il fatto che derivi da una storia vera. Le dinamiche sono molto semplici e c'è la possibilità di giocare in solitario (motivo per il quale l'ho comprato)!Bei componenti, bei disegni, particolare e piacevole. So che ormai non si trova facilmente e questo spiega il prezzo sicuramente. Consigliatissimo!

What a great game! It has a macabre theme that's incorporated into the mechanics of the game perfectly. The creepy artwork also compliments it well. The whole murder, robbery and corpse disposal might put off some bed wetters, but the game is gore free and feels more like Agatha Christie than Psycho. Rules wise the game is deceptively simple to learn. However, the more you play, the more strategies reveal themselves. Especially if you think like a criminal! There are so many simple, thematic, and ingenious aspects to this game that it has become a firm family favourite. Move aside Jaipur, Lost Cities, Arboretum, Archaeology and Condotierre, there's a new king in town!

Es un muy buen juego, pocos componentes pero tiene una estrategia muy profunda en la que si fallas en un turno puedes perder todo el juego.

Vorweg, das Spiel macht (mit den richtigen Leuten) richtig Spaß.Ich habe es als Geschenk für einen Fan französischer Filme (in diesem Fall "L'auberge rouge") gekauft und es kam unglaublich gut an. Wem das eher makabere Setting und die moralisch fragwürdigen Handlungen taugen, der kann hier bedenkenfrei zugreifenÜberaus enttäuschend war jedoch der Umstand, daß - trotz der einwandfreien Versandverpackung - die Spieleschachtel anscheinend beim Verkäufer sehr schlecht behandelt wurde. Einen derart beschädigten Artikel als NEU zu verkaufen, ist dann doch eine Frechheit.
