Tubular Bells II

I happened upon a YouTube video of a studio performance of it and fell in love with it all over again
After missing my vinyl, cassette and CD versions of Mike Oldfield's 'Tubular Bells' that had disappeared over the years, I happened upon a YouTube video of a studio performance of it and fell in love with it all over again. After watching the 'Tubular Bell II' live concert that was listed there also, I went ahead and purchased a CD copy of both TB and TBII. While the heritage of TBII is obviously derived from the TB concept, and there are many structural similarities, I find TBII is able to stand firmly on its own merits. While I'm no musicologist, I know what I like, and if the number of times I've already played the TBII CD over the last several months is any indication, I apparently really like TBII.

Fantastic music, defective vinyl.
Fantastic music, great sound, defective vinyl. I replaced the record and the second one was even worse - visible manufacturers defect. I guess I will keep the previous one regardless of some strange noises or try my luck with one more replacement. Shame....I was tempted to give one star but I cannot do it to Mike Oldfield.....

Rapper's delight is the #1 rap/hip hop song ever. I said it.
This music scares the potatoes out of my Mom.Love bluetoothing it into the attic of her 100 year old home.Bill Murray's getting called into that house.

Modern version of TB1
This CD is basically like TB 1, but more modern. The downbeat, mixing and electronic music is all above the original 1973 CD. One nice feature instead of just 2 tracks there are many - so if you have a favorite part you can zoom into just that. Dark Star and The Bell are my two favorite tracks. Lot of melodies and counter melodies; very texturally rich music.Mike Oldfield is a genius. I personally like Ommnadawn better; but I prefer this to TB1 - but I rate all three as 5 stars.Oldfield is not for everyone, but to those adventuresome, he is worth checking out.

Love the vinyl. All three- TB I,II and III are great albums.
Re-fleshing my Mike Oldfield album collection. This is a great album and one of my favorite from a master musician and composer.

I only rated this 4 stars because the recording had some rather strange noises on the first few minutes and later through the recording,I would consider it on a par with the CD, but the live DVD performance is by far the most thrilling, and we are not talking HD or Blue ray here just plain old linear PCM stereo or Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound.

A higher language.
Mike Oldfield creates, and creates is the correct word, a language of sound that takes you to places where your spirit wishes to go. The joy I have felt listening to his music is unlike most experience in this world. I still burst into tears when I hear certain passages - even after having heard them many times before. Michael is an angel come down amongst us.

Mike Oldfield does it again!!
What can I say???To me, this has to be, Mike Oldfield at his absolute best!!! Tubular Bells II, is an outstanding piece of music, whether you want it as a bit of background music or you crank it up,,, it is just excellent!!!I have all of the Tubular Bells albums and listen to them on a fairly regular basis. For me,,,, it's the best thing Richard Branson ever did,,, signing up Mike Oldfield to the Virgin label!!!

Bad batch
Record has a distinctive hump on one place. The arm goes up and down and also moves sideways. As a result, track 1 on both sides sounds absolutely terrible. That was the first record. Bought a second one... Exactly the same!Details: Warner Music, LC 14666 GEMA/MCPS 2564623323

A very good album
Mike Oldfield = Tubular Bells album one was very good.... but Tubular Bells two has a faster tempo and a wee bit more up to date in styleBut still keeps that all well known sound of Tubular Bells in his tunes witch I think a lot of people love to hearI just played all 14 tracks 58 minutes playing time and found them all very good tunesA album I am sure you will be happy buying and playing as much as I do

I really can't think of any person who doesn't like [particularly] this one
Another CD replacement for me. For those few who have never had the experience of MO, or indeed TBII, or TB1, buy it! I really can't think of any person who doesn't like [particularly] this one. It, for me, put's TB1 in the shade; up loud, even though much of it is......watch the neighbours!......you will be well inside the sounds.

Exactly what it should be
As a long standing fan of Tubular Bells I was a bit apprehensive about this but the favourable reviews swung it for me. It is exactly what it should be - the familiar, recognisable, themes and snatches of melody are there but reinterpreted and given a more vibrant, upbeat presentation. Its superb and the pressing is great as well
