Sheikhs, Lies and Real Estate: The Untold Story of Dubai Paperback – January 2, 2013

I gave this book a high rating because it opened my eyes to-recent history that I did not even know. Very interesting, a good education.The only thing I really disliked was the dirty language in quite a few areas. This book would have been just as well done and interesting without that.

This book answered many questions I had about the economy in Dubai. Learned about the rise and fall. Strongly suggest reading read for class because I'll be traveling to Dubai over spring break.

The author's initial naivete eventually fades and an intriguing story is told. Even the prose improves, providing the reader with a fascinating read and much insight into the insanity and foolishness that characterized the real estate bubble in Dubai.

Anyone thinking of relocating to Dubai or the UAE or even the Middle East should read this book. Having spent a good deal of time there, I kept thinking while reading this book, "Oh yeah, oh yeah." Even though this is billed as a novel, it rings true. The author knows what he's writing about. And even if you're not going over there, the author tells a great story.

Very interesting story about the Dubai property bubble. Virtually all of the main events can be corroberated so there is no doubt the author really knows what he is talking about. Having said that the writing style is so-so at best and I personally found it very difficult to relate to the protagonist (for personal reasons) so that took the edge off my enjoyment of the book a bit.

This was a interesting read as I read it on my way to Dubai. I learned alot from this book and made me even more excited to travel to Dubai

Quite revealing! I had a sense that Dubai was not peaches and cream, but it was even more decandant than I imagined.

Truth came to light.
