Help for your buddy
Worked great, straps are a little long, but he could go potty without removing harness, would recommend if rear legs are failing for balance & loading into truck.

For tall people with short arms.
I really don’t understand why they don’t take measurements of people to make things anatomically correct. The handle in the shortest position is still way too long. Unless you are 7 feet tall or have stubby arms you are going to have sore traps holding your dogs hips high enough for it to support him. I had to modify it on my sewing machine to get the right length. Also there is no tether from the harness to the dogs collar so it falls off if you don’t support it the whole time. Poor design but better than a sling. I got the XL for my 75 pound German shepherd. Was a little loose.

Easy on and off
I really liked this harness. The one I got was a bit large for my dog so he slips out easy, but it is a much better harness than the others I have gotten for my paralyzed dog. The others I have used are always in the way when he uses the bathroom and need cleaning just about every time this one gives plenty of clearance. Would be nice to have a strap that connects to collar so it isn't so easy to slip out of when he tries to pull away. He is a big dog and still strong with his front legs so I lose him sometimes when he gets excited. Over all I really like this harness and recommend!

Great for after ivdd surgery
My French dog recently had back surgery for a herniated disk that paralyzed his back legs. This sling is a MUST recovering from surgery. The small fit him great (he's 25ish lbs). The handle could be little longer but this was much better than the one the vet rigged up. Your dog can actually go #2 with this one.

Def get an arm pump from holding it up the whole time. Did not work me for my pet, needed something that would be able to stay on all day and not fall off without support

As a Veterinarian I cannot recommend
Even as a veterinarian I have a hard time finding products that work to support dogs following ortho surgery or with neurologic defects. No one product will work for every pet or owner, however som are just unsafe to use across the board. My own 14 year old Lab has degenerating disc disease as well as a spinal infection, resulting in a weak hind end and neurological defects that effect stability. She needs support to attain proper squat position to "use the bathroom", and to help her with stairs. I also need help to support her if she loses her balance on a walk. I was hopeful this product would work without putting excess pressure on critical areas of her spine. I liked that it was shown with a clasp to attach the handle to the dogs harness or collar hook to prevent slipping off when not in direct use. The clasp over the lower back looked sturdy and reliable. Mine arrived without the handle attachment feature! The back clasp was also different, an open X that releases easily during normal use resulting in a near catastrophic fall down my stairs where I decided to go ahead and try the device anyway. I called Amazon Customer Service and they were helpful in providing a replacement. The replacement came with the same issues, and when I rechecked the listing it no longer shows the attaching clasp, and instead shows a criss cross over the neck use of the handles when not in use. The maker calls it an advanced feature, I call it down right dangerous. As a veterinarian I MUST CAUTION on 2 issues: That criss cross use of the handles over the neck could result in excess strain on neck vertebrae or choking. If the dog loses balance and the owner were to grab quickly (which is the typical reaction) in this configuration it could lead to a catastrophic injury to the dog's neck or spine. Especially the population of dogs that would need this item. The other issue is that the lift on this harness is against the dog's hip joints, NOT the pelvis as would be medically sound and appropriate. Excess stress of this type on normal or compromised hip joints (as in hip dysplasia or for a dog with one amputation) will result in accelerated hip degeneration. While it looks well made and is easy to put on the dog, this is just not a medically sound piece of equipment. My search for a safe and effective hind end support for my own dog and those of my clients continues. I cannot recommend this product.

Excellent!
We have 12 yr old 80 lb male red golden. His back legs just won’t hold him anymore. We were using a towel to lift him and holding his tail as he peed and pooped. This harness has saved our backs. He isn’t bothered by it and he can easily pee and poop while wearing it. We can stand upright and support him. I bought a large and a medium (because I didn’t measure). The medium hasn’t arrived yet. We’re using the large. We’ll donate the other to a rescue orgHighly recommend this if you have a large dog and a bad back. FYI: We received the medium and it fits our dog more snug.
