Good head, soft wood
The media could not be loaded. A friend of mine has a few of these and they are great throwing hatchets. The only thing is the handle is not good and will break immediately. I have seen 4 of these break withing the first throw. My video is of a perfect throw, with no handle tap on the target and the handle still broke in half. Oh well, just replace the handle and move on. Still fun little hatchet.

For show, not for work
I was torn between 3 or 4 stars, so maybe this rating is more like a 3.5. Long story short, it arrived with rust on the head, not super sharp but can handle small campfire logs, and so far the head is secured well to the handle. The reason I bumped it up a little bit with the rating is because the sheath is actually really nice. Its leather, versatile, and fits the hatchet very snuggly. Like the title said, this is probably more for show than for work, but can handle some light duties - so it'd work for car camping and light duties around the house like kindling for the fireplace. It is really handsome, tho so if you have a collection this would be a stylish addition.

Decent axe.
As others have stated, the handle isn’t the most sturdy thing. The blade is sharp enough and it has a nice feel to it. It comes oiled and needs special care to avoid rust. This type of Damascus is odd to me, as there are raised ridges instead of it looking like polished, forge welded steel of different types. It may be folded steel, but not like any I’ve ever seen. I do have a knife that looks like this and is actually just coated with a pattern, which concerns me, but for the price, this is fine. It’s not a wall hanger, unless as a prop. If intended for heavy use, I’d switch out the handle with something a bit sturdie and heavier but all in all, not a bad hatchet to use and abuse.

Floppy
This hatchet appears to be high quality. Nice Damascus. Good fit and finish. The sheath is well made from apparently high quality materials. It is really quite beautiful. I have not chopped anything with it yet, but it appears solid. Will update after I put it to work around the camp.Update, after 5 minutes of light work, the handle came loose. The steel seems fine, but the handle staying attached seems important... Perhaps I will try and attach a better handle, but for $70, it should be a hatchet, not just a wall hanger. I am disappointed in it.Update #2. I was able to secure the existing handle with a small axe shim. Need to chop with it again to test the repair. We will see. Leaving it at a two until I can retest.
