This is a fairly short book, but it's aptly priced. It does tell you the basics of how to tune your drums, which is what I needed. This book along with a torque drum key I bought, and a tuning app to use on my phone, has my drums sounding better than they have in years.A good, basic drum tuning reference.

I don't understand the negative reviews (one anonymous). This guide is the best guide I have seen that advises you step by step, and drum by drum how to tune the top head to the shell itself, then tune the bottom head to the shell as well. It advises you once you have self tuned your drums how to tune them to one another. It covers reasons for "buzz". Of course for the professional musicians that have negative comments here (although I have not heard of them professionally live or as studio drummers, everyone has their opinion). I have been playing 18 years. I think I tune drums pretty well.Yes I knew much, but I learned a few things that made it worth the $13.If you are new to drums and you have a $600 set and you want it to sound like a $1600 set, make sure your drums are in tune. I can get a $600 set to sound like a $1600 set. If you can't, pick up this book. Read it two to 3 times through, it is easy reading and enjoyable. You will be able to tune that set after reading his book.I have no affiliation to the author, just followed the positive reviews from fellow Amazon reviewers. It is the best book on drum tuning I have seen to date.UPDATE: 12/26/2011This is still the best drum tuning booklet out there, period.

clear and informative.a few good tips.good but not great.this book is excellent for novice or must have for beginner.

As an experienced drum tuner this was somewhat helpful. This goes through the dynamics of the head choices and relative head tension and techniques of actually getting each head in tune. Very good guide. Experienced or not this is a good book.

Detailed instruction. Very informative.

In my judgement, this is a very poor attempt on the subject. I suggest that one should beware of this waste of time and money. There has to be better professional advice out there. This is certainly no valuable source in regards to drum tuning. I would leave this one out of your collection!John Lovett

Lovin it. Old school tunning

Für mich ist diese kurze Fibel eine Perle zum Thema Drum-Tuning. Ich habe unzählige Videos zu dem Thema gesehen. Sie waren alle irgenwie hilfreich, aber es ergab sich kein klares Bild.Dieses Büchleich stell die Hintergründe strukturiert dar. Der Autor geht systematisch vor, indem er die Eigenschaften und ihre Querbeziehungen von Schlagzeug-Trommeln beschreibt. Die Stimm-Anleitung erfolgt in drei Sektionen: Toms, Bassdrum, Snare. Der Autor vermittelt einen realistischen Eindruck, in welcher Zeit man Ergebnisse aus dieser Lektüre erwarten kann und gibt Empfehlungen, wie man sich die geforderte Erfahrung erarbeitet.Obwohl man nach einmal Lesen keine Wunder erwarten kann, konnte ich durch Befolgen der Anweisungen schonmal meine Snare und meine Toms in einen annehmbaren Zustand bringen. Es ist sicherlich nicht perfekt, aber zeitnah ein brauchbares Ergebnis, um im Proberaum vernünftig zu klingen. Ganz persönlich steht dieses Wissen für mich jetzt vor dem Griff zu Klebeband/Moongels/Dämpfringen/Klinkersteinen/usw. Meine Floor habe ich dann doch noch abgeklebt gelassen - ich weiß aber heute warum.

No está mal pero tampoco aporta más información de la que pueda venir en otros manuales. Afinar desde el punto de vista del autor, hay cosas con las que no estoy de acuerdo. En fin, esto de la afinación es un mundo.
