Fantastic product that's well worth the value.
This is the perfect add-on for my new Macbook. While I love my computer, the single USB C port doesn't help when I'm conducting interviews for my podcast and I need a USB 3.0 port and USB C passthrough to keep this thing charged! This is the perfect solution and the color matches, to boot! Do yourself a favor if you're suffering the same issue with the Macbook and splurge on this little guy. You'll thank yourself later.

This is a good (if slightly pricey) adaptor that gets around the limit ...
This is a good (if slightly pricey) adaptor that gets around the limit of one USB-C port on the new MacBook. The size and set of ports are just right (at least for me). The only thing that seems a little questionable is that this is a pretty long gizmo to be mechanically attached by just the USB-C port at one end. I wonder if the leverage due to the length may exert enough torque around the port that something may snap one day. Not clear how a third party manufacturer could design around this, however. If Apple had made the thing, perhaps they would have included something on the edge of the MacBook to provide a bit of support for the far end to prevent such damage. Bottom line: a good device, but do NOT leave it plugged in all the time -- remove when not in use to minimize risk of mechanical damage.

Great, but has some flaws
Updated review: I bought this November 2016, and didn't start using it until my laptop arrived just before Christmas 2016. I thought about keeping it in my go bag, but, since I work from home, it ended up just living on a quiet portion of my desk. I have a hub built in to my monitor, so this really only got used as a memory card reader about once a month or so. It is now completely dead. My Macbook Pro does not recognize it as a USB hub. I've tried all the ports. It simply lights up and gets incredibly hot (pretty much too hot to touch). So, in 8 months, with maybe 3 dozen uses, this hub has completely failed. Please don't waste your money on this product. There are better ones on the market. Stay away from Satechi. Original review: First off, this is the best product out there (right now) for connecting all of your peripherals on the go. However, there are a couple reasons this gets 3 stars instead of 5. It gets uncomfortably warm when it's plugged in - even when nothing is connected. It also doesn't seem very stable - I would have liked to see this be the same height as the MacBook Pro, because it seems like it's going to break if you touch the top of it. I'd love to see this same adapter with two connections and a direct USB-C 3.1/Thunderbolt 3.0 port (not a lower output USB 3.0 only without Thunderbolt support) added, as well as a vent or two. Pretty much every adapter in this class/style that has a second USB-C/Thunderbolt 2.0 port blocks the side of the computer and lacks the ability to use a Thunderbolt device, requiring plugs to go on both sides of the computer. In my opinion, this is great for occasional use and for throwing in your bag for usage on the go, but I wouldn't depend on this for a daily hub.

A great product.
A great product. So far, I've only used the USB A connection to transfer data to a new MacBook, but it did what it was supposed to do. I'll be using it for the Micro SD once I get settled in to my new digs. Matches the finish of the Mac well, and has a small indicator light. As to some reviews saying it's not well built, I'd say it fairly well built - if it was built like a tank, it'd be bigger, bulkier and heavier - just treat it with a little respect and you should be fine.

Tasty beauty, sour function.
First, I absolutely abhor the wording associated with each tier of satisfaction when writing these reviews, it doesn't do the glance reader justice. And don't you dare contend that they should just exercise some diligence and read more, you pretentious elitist. And besides you really shouldn't have such high expectations you'll just denote to everyone else of your masochism. Anyway, as some other reviewers have mentioned, well the one that I've read, the product is aesthetically flawless - the real motivation behind the purchase second to its functionality, kidding, kidding, don't shoot. But also mentioned are the very dire craftsmanship flaws and design inadequacies that the product seems to possess. Listen or rather adjust your eyes and focus, you've heard all of this before, what you want to know is despite the beauty of the product, mind, you won't find another product as gorgeous, are all these random strangers correct with their dissatisfaction? Unfortunately for you and Satechi, they are, after only two weeks of use, the product ceased all function, and, this pattern seems to replicate itself among many who have purchased this product. And unless you wish to be perpetually calling, oh sorry, emailing Satechi, you'd eschew this product. I mean it, you have been warned. Side note: Satechi is an awesome company, and their customer service via email is pleasant and docile, willing to go above and beyond for you. And I'll never prevaricate, their products are sexy as hell. I wanna love you Satechi but you gotta do better. I am one loyal mother........ you want me.

So far so good, no real complaints
So far so good, no real complaints. The only potential problem might be the hub connector sticking out as one needs to be careful when putting the item in a bag not to bend or break it off. Yes could have had a separate cable to connect the device instead of the connector protruding out but then one could misplace the cable and the device would be useless. Anyway this is nitpicking and glad I bought the item.

It works, but not reliably.
So this does in fact pass-through charge and works great with other devices plugged into it. The color matches the laptop nicely (I have space grey) and it does allow you to finally have more than one usb cable plugged into it while charging on the 12" Macbook. Here are the problems, however: 1: It will not sit flush along side the computer if you have any kind of case or shell on it. I have a very minimalist plastic shell and the plug will not go in far enough for it to connect unless I flip it around and have it pointing forward which means that it is not supported and it hangs about 1/4 inch off the table pointed forward. 2: When it is plugged in, it works great, but it comes unplugged very easily when trying to attach or detach usb devices, memory cards, etc. I would take care when attaching or removing cables or cards from the device because it has a tendency to unplug from the computer, which means that it will unmount all the hard drives and memory cards plugged and jump drives plugged into it. A couple times now when I have accidentally nudged a cable or the hub, it disconnects suddenly. 3: It gets really hot. It is surprisingly warm after a short period of time. I have not spent a lot of time yet transferring data with it (afraid that it will disconnect suddenly!) but it gets really hot versus the Apple connectors. 4: And this is just a design thing, but why would you put your logo on the bottom of the device? The indicator light that it is plugged in is on the "top" and they put their logo on the bottom... this of course doesn't matter in terms of the device performance, but it is a strange thing to hide your logo on the bottom of a device. So bottom line, I plan to return this. It does not make a reliable enough connection for "real world" use and since just about everyone I know that has the MacBook has some sort of a shell or case on it, this device doesn't connect if you try to attach it the way they designed it. Flipping it around makes it very unstable One solution might be for them to offer 6" usb c male to female cable so that you can connect it with it having to hang off the side of the computer.

Color matches nicely. Sits flush
The product works as advertised, color matches nicely. Sits flush, no stress on the connector with SD cards and flash drivers. Charging through Macbook and operating with devices as iPhone 6 and flash USB 3.0 drives of several kinds, USB 2.0 and 3.0 external Hard Drives and SD cards. However, connecting a USB extension hub (with 4 ports), only the USB 2.0 including flash drives and 3.0 devices HD non flash will work properly, the flash USB 3.0 drives won't work with an extension Hub, due to OS X conflict which I hope it will be fixed with future OS X updates. It's a small delicate adapter so it has to be treated gently, nothing out of the ordinary.

Love this for my Samsung Galaxy Book!
Love this for my Samsung Galaxy Book! As there is no USB slot, this is essential for this tablet. It's very compact but still allows you to connect several devices of varying types. Also love that it has a USB C slot so you can charge your device if there's only 1 USB slot. Great product!

¡Altamente recomendado si manejas video trabajando desde una Macbook, portable, con un diseño elegantísimo! El único inconveniente es la falta de un puerto HDMI para proyectar, espero la siguiente mejor lo mejore
