Dollywood Book Has No Maps
The author of this book talks quite a bit about his love of maps. His favorite map was a colorful, detailed one of Disneyworld. I bought this book hoping to find the same type of map for Dollywood. I was very disappointed. There's very little color in the book, almost no photos, & there is no map showing details of Dolllywood. You would think an author that talks about his own love of maps would have included one in his book.

We have been to Dollywood several times before and it's already familiar--but it was a lot of fun to have this book and read a fellow enthusiast's take on the park. It is divided into areas and gives good descriptions of all of the rides, eateries, and shows. The weakest part of the book is the County Fair section--the author allowed his nephew to write it, which was very sweet--but the descriptions are all extremely short and choppy. Also, the use of "spouse" throughout the book was awkward--who talks like that? But all in all, this book was a great find, helped us build our excitement about an upcoming trip, and was a great read in the evening after a day at the park to plan the NEXT day---- I hope this book gets updated regularly.

Well Worth the Read! A+
The book helped us tremendously in preparing for our first trip to Dollywood. Besides getting us psyched for the visit, it covers so many essentials about navigating the park from your arrival in the parking lot to every store/eatery/ride. It also covers the new Dreammore Resort and local Pigeon Forge area outside the park. We especially appreciated the many interesting tidbits about Dolly's upbringing and how so many of the attractions' names and traditions tie back to her childhood. Also, critical to our visit was the helpful info for the mobility challenged and about the park's kennels.Using the book, we were able to prioritize our scheduling in the park, which is a necessity given all Dollywood has to offer. The 2016 Dollywood and Beyond guidebook definitely helped us make the most of our trip.

worth the money
This book is very informative and detailed! If you are the type that makes a plan for your trip, this is a great book. The only thing that would have been more helpful would be a more colorful detailed map and some sample touring plans.

A very "user-friendly" guide
Michael Fridgen has written an enjoyable, thorough book of Dollywood and the surrounding area. It is a very "user-friendly" guide. I have vacationed in this area of Tennessee many times and as I read this book, I felt like I was really there visiting these attractions again. I especially enjoyed his personal experiences with his family and having his nephew "guide" us through the "Country Fair".
