Avoid
Old Kernel. Poor support. NOT "open" product. Buggy. Had SD give me issues when copying a lot to it. Can't boot eMMC and use SD without jumping through hoops (need SD in as well to boot at all). Needs heat sink and even with the heat sink can not achieve advertised speed without putting a barrel connector on it and fan. Poor community support. Save your money and aim for a Raspberry Pi 3 or Orange Pi Plus 2e (not on Amazon unfortunately).I would say do not purchase this board. The one for sale here does not have the barrel connector for power so you are limited to ~9W. With cooling attached you will exceed this and it will result in hangs (total freeze) when the SoC is undervolted. Newer models replaced the USB power with a barrel connector which can reach 3A. You can read more at:[...]If you want a stronger board and still need the gbit ethernet.... Look at the Orange Pi Plus 2e (That model exactly... there is another one with a similar name but if it is sold as anything but the Orange Pi Plus 2e then avoid it as well). If the gbit isn't important then go with a Raspberry Pi 3. Both of these boards have far better support and are better engineered than this one. Also: VERY OVERPRICED FOR WHAT YOU GET. It's a ripoff.

Just get an Odroid xu4 instead...
Device would not boot sucessfully from several known good 2.5A power supplies. Kinda of defeated the purpose of it coming with ONLY a micro usb jack for power, when a micro USB can't deliver enough power to start the device.. Upon further research, The support for this device is horrible. Trust me, just don't waste your time with this device.. not to mention that return costs on all of the accessories i got for it, would put me out even more money.... Total scam product.. Specs look good, but product does not function, and has little support.

Interesting accomplishment in small computing
This is a fascinating and powerful computer. I got it out of sheer curiosity, because it has a powerful processing ability, and I'm using it to do desktop things like email and research. It's a bit finicky, though. I have had to reimage the memory card a couple times. Once was understandable because a power outage and then turning back on caused an improper shutdown, something it's sensitive to. I suggest strongly that users provide a power supply with an on-off switch to prevent this from happening. Also, I have had to use a second computer to expand the operating system to fill the entire memory card after installation, because this operation can't be done on a mounted partition, as it is when running. What happens is that the operating system is put on a small part of the memory card and the rest of the capacity isn't available for file creations and updates until I use GParted to expand it.

Not so sure on this. Support = Null
So, a bit different than RPi A-B-B+ in the fact that I cannot get a bootable image. E-mailed the parent company for help, but no response. So, I can't say for sure whether it is good or bad, right now I'm just using it as a paperweight until I can get some advice.Edit: 8 month later collecting dust. SO, the url for support that came with the manual on this, well the website's been jacked. So be careful who you order from.

Works well enough. But the SATA is just a USB to SATA bridge
I got this to work as a small NAS for my Raspberry Pi cluster. The primary bottlenecks for a NAS like this comes down to the network speeds and the type of SATA ports going to the disks. With gigabit and SATA, this SBC seemed to be perfect for this sort of thing. I knew I wouldn't get true SATA performance but I expected it would still be better than using a USB port. Well, it turns out that the SATA port is really just a USB to SATA bridge so you max out at USB speeds anyway. In terms of the networking performance, I was able to get about 700mbps which I was sort of expecting. The software provided by Sinovoip is notorious for being buggy and many of the links on their website are dead. Images for past BPis wont work as this is a totally different AllWinner chip, the A83T. I was able to get their Fedora and CentOS images going with a little work but I don't really trust these guys enough to run whatever image they give me so I'll be making my own instead (google "allwinner rootmydevice"). Now that I know this isn't anywhere near what I needed for a basic NAS it's basically just a toy now. I dunno, I might put some heavier services on it that can cause overheating on a RPi 3.This is definitely not a device for an average Pi newbie. If you've never gone beyond using NOOBs on a Rapberry Pi, this will be beyond your immediate skill set.

Very good board. Took a while to find the right distribution for it. If you are planning to use it remotely, don't install Ubuntu Mate or Debian. download and install Raspian Mate. that works the best. I had issue with no remote access after 4 hours with the Ubuntu and Debian.
