Gatco12001 Easy-Grip Clamp Mount

You have a sharpening kit from Graco this is a must. Very nice and worth every penny

Bought this with the "Gatco 10006 Ultimate diamond hone sharpening system" Many people say that it is frivolous and unnecessary. It is true that it is an unneeded item to get your knives razor sharp with the excellent Gatco sharpening system. BUT, it does make sharpening the knives SO much easier.Packaging and ItemItem arrived in a molded plastic cover that was fastened at the top and had the built in pop tabs to remove the item within. Item received was exactly as pictured. The item seems to be constructed of a very sturdy plastic and has comfortable soft, plastic like finger grips.UseTo give it a fair review I sharpened my Gerber Para knife without using the mount first. It was easy, but my large hands did make it a little uncomfortable finding a comfortable grip for it. Once completing the first Gerber I moved on to my other Para knife, this time using the mount. It was so much nicer and I found that I completed the knife much quicker as I didn't have to adjust the holder in my hand as much. Anyone else who is new to this system, you have to go through multiple stones with 8-10 passes across the entire blade-on both sides. So that's 20 passes per stone on the knife.Bottom LineFor me, having spent $78 on the Gatco sharpening system, the $7-$8 for the mount is well worth it. There are no other accessories that you have to buy other than different stones, so for under $10 bucks on something that will probably last longer than the stones is great. Keep in mind that you really don't need the mount, but when you're doing a full resharpen you will use four stones at 20 passes each, so you will be making 80 passes per knife to sharpen it. That's a lot of readjusting if you don't use the mount.

I like having this so you can keep the Gatco in the same spot all the time and makes it easier to hold everything in place while sharpening. I find I’m more confident and not thinking about it nearly as much. Just put the blade holder in and go to town. I can hold the handle, the blade clamp and direct the rod with no problem.

Works well and does what it should. Haven't mounted it to the workbench for the full effect, but helps make things more manageable even while held in your hand. Would be nicer with a slight design change to the slot for the angle guide; a rubber insert or something to hold the guide in the Easy-Grip would be an improvement rather than just letting gravity do its job.

I was ecstatic when I saw this on Amazon for so much less than Gatco had it on their site, plus the fact that it qualified for free shipping with Prime.This grip makes all the difference in the world when using my Gatco sharpening kit. I don't know how I lived without it! With this grip, the clamp is much more stable and since it has a nice, flat bottom, you can hold it on a table top, giving you a steady platform on which to work.The grip is just right for my hands and feels quite comfortable.I highly recommend that anyone that has any Gatco system buy one of these. You will not be sorry!

The first knife I sharpened was my fishing filet knife. It put a razor sharp edge on it. It was a bit time consuming to use and the base I purchased along with it helped greatly, but you must screw it down to the bench when using it. Negitively speaking, this sharpener can only sharpen one side of the blade at a time. Then you have to flip it over in its base and sharpen the other. Not too big of a deal but it does upset the rythem you create once you begin sharpening.Would be nicer if you could sharpen BOTH sides simotaineously like the sharpener sold by Wicked Edge. A bit pricy, but the best and last sharpener you will ever buy. A friend of mine bought it and says it is unbelibable and sooooo easy to use. You can even sharpen your razors with it!!! For the price, the Gatco is ok.

holds the very awkward sharpener very well. It makes the sharpener MUCH easier to handle and use. I'd recommend it for anyone who bought the Garco sharpener.

It is a very simple devise that works.

This Gatco clamp holder is the one accessory I really could have done with for the past 25 years of using a Gatco Sharpening system . It's a doddle to use, I especially like its ability to facilitate the user to 'turn the clamp over' so the opposite edge can be worked on and back again etc. I clamp its base to a table top thus freeing both hands . It's amazing how a simple idea like this can make such a huge difference in easing the process.

...ist aber meiner Meinung nach verbesserungsbedürftig.Der Haltegriff erleichtert den Umgang mit dem dementsprechenden Schärfset allemal!Der Klemmhalter, der Gatco Schärfsets hat in dem Haltegriff für mein Empfinden noch ein bisschen zu viel Spiel.Ich gleiche das dahingehend aus, dass ich meinen Daumen oben auf den Klemmhalter drücke, während die restlichen Finger der Hand den Haltegriff umschließen.Wegen dieser mangelhaften Passgenauigkeit, einen Stern Abzug.

das ist mit diesem Set geglückt. Der Halter ist für mich unbedingt nötig um schnell erfolgreich die Messer scharf zu bekommen.Wenn ich noch einen Platz hätte um ihn optisch unauffällig anzuschrauben, wärs noch besser. Aber mit Schraubenzwinge gehts auch. Bin zufrieden.
