FTCE English 6-12 Teacher Certification Test Prep Study Guide: teacher certification exam (XAM FTCE)

Not helpful and full of mistakes. It makes one nervous enough to take a test, but when you can locate mistakes (lots of them) in the book that is supposed to be preparing you, it makes it much worse.

The book was very comprehensive. I studied it from cover to cover and then I passed the test. Mostly helpful with the objective part of the test, not so much with the essay.

I am 100% satisfied with my experience with Amazon and I am looking forward to continue doing business with it.

This exam prep book was a complete waste of money. I took the SAE English 6-12 on June 1, 2017, and I can attest that this book covers nothing that is on the exam. The exam features a lot of scenario-based questions about how to teach a specific concept or skill. Instead of focusing the study guide in this direction, it focuses more on English literature knowledge and leaves little room for application. Thankfully, I had enough sense to preview the FTCE practice tests put out by the State of Florida before I took my test. (You can find these online for free through Google.) I passed just fine with those, of course I am an Secondary English Education major so that may have aided my success. On a positive note, the study guide does list all of the competencies, which is helpful so that you can mark your strengths and weaknesses, but it is not a good tool to study. After briefly using this book to study and taking the practice exam, I found myself panicking because the questions were so difficult and I didn't know the answers to half of them. Don't stress yourselves out like I did. Don't get this book!

This book helped me with maybe 3 of the actual questions on the test. Do not buy this book. I bought it at Barnes n Noble so it'll say unverified purchase, but I wanted to warn everyone. Because I relied so heavily on this resource, I have to retake the test. I won't even get into all the spelling/grammar errors in this ENGLISH BOOK. DO NOT BUY.

I purchased this book primarily because of its sample test. However, some of the questions themselves contain typos and other errors that cause confusion, and therefore led me to incorrect answers. I found myself hoping desperately that whoever wrote the real test that I'll be taking in 4 days made no errors like this, because I don't want to walk away from a $200 test with a failing score thanks to typos and errors.

Ok I borrowed this from the library and I totally agree with the other reviewers. This book is garbage!! How can I study when the answer choices are wrong?! I'm already freaking out about this test. I've been a teacher for 9 years, and I am just now getting my certificate. Now, I have to "play their game" but they are so incompetent, they can't even write a test booklet correctly.

This book contains a lot of very embarrassing errors. Though the content review is nice, it is not complete. There are enough errors in this book for me to feel comfortable labeling it as an untrustworthy study source. The practice test in the back is close to useless as well. Dr. Thielemann-Downs' book is more comprehensive, though neither book seems to adequately prepare for this test. Good luck to all fellow test takers, especially if you decide to study from this book - you'll need it.
