This set is so cute! To my surprise, it’s one of the best pencil sharpeners I have recently used. I bought a few for my daughter when she started kinder and the lead in the pencils kept falling out. So I bought this set mostly because of the ruler and the design. The scissors work well and are my 5 year old’s favorite. Overall, I would buy this for a loved one as a gift anytime of the year or just because!

My daughter is going into first grade so it’s time we upgrade some of her school supplies. She has the typical “beginner/safety” scissors and I’ve noticed that it seems to be hard for her to see exactly where she’s cutting and I think that’s why she’s not getting better at cutting. So when I came across this set, I saw the blades were more pointed at the tip. Plus, this set also came with a sharpener and a ruler that all had ice cream print. So I was excited for her to try these out.The ice cream print is definitely cute. It’s blue with different colored and kinds of ice cream all over. Even though the ice cream is a little girly, I do think this print is fairly gender neutral and a boy who is very interested in ice cream might enjoy this print. Just wanted to point that out if you are a parent who is concerned about gender specific prints and colors.The scissors do in fact have s thinner, pointier tip of the blades. So your child will be able to get a more precise cut. Which was something that I was looking for with my daughter. I’m happy about that. The scissors are also very sharp, so be careful. Now the ruler is a standard ruler, inches on side side and centimeters on the other. It is a wider ruler, and it’s also not see through. So if you’re looking for a ruler that you can see through, this will not be a set for you. I point that out, because I know as a child I only wanted the see through rulers because it made it easier to see where I was measuring. I know some teachers only have transparent rulers as well. Just a preference for some! The ruler measurements are accurate. I compared the ruler to two other rulers we have, and they match up correctly. And then you have the sharpener, which slides out to expose both of the sharpers. You have the standard sized pencil sharpener and one for jumbo pencils. I will say that we have some jumbo pencils that did not fit into the sharpener. So if you have big jumbo pencils, they might not fit. But for the average school-use pencils, this sharpener will work wonderfully. It closes shut, which as a parent who is always worried about my child getting “curious”, I appreciate that it doesn’t leave the holes exposed. You can also pull it all the way open to empty the sharpening pieces.This set would be a great addition to your child’s school supplies. The print is cute and will stand out against the basic supplies other students may have. It’s definitely worth looking into for the upcoming school year.
