Fox got foxy and built one better and less expensive
I purchased for full price the Fox Outfitters Comfort 100 series self inflating air mat for next summers road-trip across the USA by motorcycle. I previously used Thermorest pads but had to open the box now to inspect and compare. The Fox Comfort 100 comes rolled up and almost vacuum packed for shipping. I unrolled it from its plastic sleeve and opened the air valve. I left it on the floor for a couple hours to expand naturally as much as it could. Full inflation the first time from natural expansion needed some help. It was then that I reached for the manual air valve and noticed how much sturdier the valve was and how large the inflation port was. Full breaths to help inflate were easy, as the mouth piece was large and easy to open & close. Not at all like blowing up a mat through a straw sized inflation port. A family illness persuaded me to sleep on it for several nights in a row downstairs on our hardwood floor. I bought the long size which is advertised as 25x77" and 2" thick. After several nights on it, I can say that this is a serious camping mat. It lost no air in over 7 days of nightly use, The air valve is durable and made of non corrosive brass for years of use. The top of the mat is covered with a non-slip soft touch fabric which makes it difficult to slide off of it in the middle of the night. (experienced campers know exactly what I'm talking about) This feature alone is a deal maker. The bottom is an abrasion resistant fabric. The mat says it has triple zone comfort padding which I think is the fabric design..ribbed in the middle and cross hatch design for head and feet. No design on the bottom. It comes with its own stuff sack and two fabric bands to hold it while your stuffing it. Also included in a small pocket is a patch kit should you ever set up in the dark and inadvertently lay it on a shark rock or root. Wow, buying a air mat with all the necessary items included. Got my vote. And yes, after 5 nights sleeping on it, my body never touched the hardwood floor while laying on it. (this model is 2" thick...some of their other lightweight backpacking models are 1" or 1.5" thick) Your talking about 250 lbs and 6'3" of frame that it had to support. Of course if you just kneel on it, your knee will compress that one spot to ground level, (it's open cell foam for lightness) but laying on it brought me to a comfortable restful sleep without any part of me touching the floor underneath the pad. It deflated & rolled up and fit easily in the stuff bag included. The second un-roll to use needed just a puff or two for firmness. It does say that it is designed in the USA but responsibly made in China. Also what I never knew was that for maximum useful life & comfort, self inflating air mats should be stored inflated and just rolled up and put in their sack before using for a camp-out/roadtrip. I have three pads of the other famous brand. All I can say is the other famous (rest-mat) maker better start watching, because Fox Outfitters is eating your lunch...especially if this mat is any indication for almost half the price and twice the innovative quality design of materials.

Defective valve
I bought 2 of these. One was great with no issues. The other one had a defective valve so would not hold air. Unfortunately I ordered it in the winter and didn’t use it till the summer so couldn’t exchange it.

Wasn't what I thought but did the trick ;-)
It got us through the weekend A-OK;-) I have 3 REI camp beds (sleeping pads) and this compares pretty well in terms of comfort, ease of use, and size. My gripes: I wanted an XL pad and thought the L was what I needed to order and that the XL equivalent was what we were getting, specifically, a longer, wider pad with a 2.5" thickness (my fault I overlooked this when ordering). This pad in L is standard size as compared to my REI Camp Beds' dimensions and the thickness is only 2" but since it was comfy I won't cry over 0.5".One more thing: I don't like the screw-cap valve closure. My REI ones twist and pull/push to open. The total screw-cap design seems too cumbersome. Overall a good purchase, though.

Great sleeping pad!
If you're purchasing this for general camping then this is a 5 star product however if you're looking for a backpacking pad then this is not the pad for you! I am 6'2 and 270 lbs so I need a little bigger of a pad then most regular size pads account for. The pad is easy to unroll, and to add a little support and comfort I give it about 8-10 breaths to blow it up slightly. I have to say this sleeping pad is very comfortable as far as sleeping pads go. Wether I was sleeping on my back, side, or even stomach it was comfortable and I have not woke up with backpack yet. It is easy to roll up and pack out and even includes a nice stuff sack. I did take this on a backpacking trip and while the added comfort was nice at the end of the day, the added pack weight just wasn't worth it at 2lbs 5oz for the long version (the one I bought). There are many other lightweight/minimalist backpacking options out there. At this price-point you're getting a whole lot of pad, and this is a pad I will definitely keep around for a long time use for car camping but definitly not for backpacking.

UPDATED 2020! Great pad for a great price! Large and comfortable!
Great pad!As a first time self-inflating pad user I can say this definitely impressed me. It took 4 days for me to notice any deflation and I weighed a little more than 255lbs when I used this. I just gave it a couple of breaths and it firmed right back up for another 2 days before I packed up.I got the largest size which meant plenty of room for me and I'm 5'11, broad shouldered. I could have gone a size down I think, but wanted the extra thickness. My hip did not touch the ground, though I did give the pad three or four breaths after it finished inflating. The materials feel really nice. They are pretty no-slip so it nor you shift about your tent while sleeping and turning over through the night.Right now I'd recommend it to anyone looking to try a self-inflating pad for the first time. I'll see if I remember to do a 1 year review.2020 update; I still have this pad, it's still in fantastic shape! I'll be using it for winter camping in a couple of weeks!

Thin as paper
I followed the instructions to allow the mat to inflat. After 72 hours of keeping it unrolled, the inflate knob opened as far as possiible, and with nothing laying on it, the mat is as flat as it was when it was first unrolled.
