Awesome tools.
One of my best purchases recently. The factory packaging leaves much to be desired though - the tools are put in plastic bags (that are not even secured with a tape) and thrown inside the bag. The bag itself is good with a sturdy top and handle. The impact driver is awesome, in setting 2, I accidentally set the drive to reverse or unscrew and drove a #10 nut into a dried out scrap 4x4 - its so powerful. I dont ever see myself using setting 3. Setting one is perfect for driving screws - it drives till the end, them the hammering action kicks in to make the head flush. I drove about 50 screws securing bookshelf shelves under 10 minutes - start to finish, including time to align the brackets, mark positions etc.The hammerdrill is great too. Its pretty lightweight and has ample power for any DIYer or Pro. Havent had chances to use it much. The only gripe I have about these tools is that the battery packs are not snug against them. They have a slight wobble, but doesnt affect the usability of either tools. I wish they included a bit holder too.I highly recommend this for any DIYer who needs something more powerful that skimpy 12v tools.

Powerful light and well balanced
When I bought these, I had no idea how good these tools were. Mind you, I had been using the Dewalt 18v for main years which I bought as a part of a set of 4 tools package deal (5" circular saw, sawzall, and flashlight with a nice case, 2 batteries and a charger). The old drill is still going strong but, I am getting ready to replace planking on my deck and wanted a more powerful drill to unscrew the screws. On High setting, the impact driver unscrews a 3 1/2 in deck screws completely in less than 1/3 second or so. Literally, the screw slams the drill against my hand as it comes out. These screws are in there solid. It would be difficult to take these out with the 18V. Some have started to rust. For comparison, if I use the old 18v Dewalt drill, it exerts a lot of torque and can twist my wrist if I have the clutch set too high. This impact driver safely disengages the clutch if the screw does not move but, it exerts much less torque against your wrist while at the same time, the repeated impacts continue to exert torque against the screw until the screw starts to turn. I was floored at how fast the drill can turn. Pretty amazing. On paper, it may not show such a dramatic difference but, in real-life situation the drill is far superior to the old. Just a solid tool. Also, the variable speed control is really good. With this tool, I have the ability to exert fine control over the speed where I can make it crawl for more delicate work as well as the extreme power for when power is needed. Very impressed! I did not expect this degree of satisfaction. Can't praise it enough!

Great drill and impact, batteries are way too small for either tool
The drill and impact driver are FANTASTIC. Tons of power and great features for the money. The batteries this particular kit comes with are a joke though and should never have been included with the most powerful brushless drill Dewalt has ever made. I get that they wanted to include some kind of battery in the kit but the puny 2 Ah batteries have no business being in the same box as this drill and impact driver. The little 2.0's only last minutes when using the drill and would definitly sour a new Dewalt user on Dewalt battery life if this was the first and only kit they had tried. I ordered this kit as a gift and figured the combo kit was cheap enough the recipient could jist toss these silly little batteries in a drawer and forget about them. I ordered a pair of 6 Ah batteries which are AMAZING and a far better paring for these two tools.

Great Lights, Comfortablel Grip, Excellent Torque, and Light weight - My new favorite!
I am rennovating my older home and purchased these tools for this work. They replaced a 5 year old 18v Hitachi set. The dewalt tools are almost half the weight, half the bulk, and all the power of the Hitachi. They are so much lighter that I have more control of the tool, and less strain in my arms and wrist. For those benefits, they get 5 stars. But there is more benefits! These units have built in flashlights that directs a bright light at the work surface. Now, dowing work in tighter spaces just got a lot easier because I can see what I am doing! add increased visibility + the fact that the tool is ligheter and more controllable will knock this out of the park, but there is still more benefits over the older Hitachi.. The torque control is smooth. I set it, and it works. The Hitachi tools have a torgue setting, but it was rough and I was always stripping the heads off of screws. The dewalt is more tunable, and I can set it so that it does not over-torgue anything.I understanding that I am comparing the top of the line Dewalt to a 5 year old Hitachi, but it is what I upgrade from and I am thrilled with the Dewalt.

Worth the upgrade from the basic impact and drill
Had the basic impact and drill and the XR deliveries more power and versatility. The impact with the 3 speed settings makes for versatile usage. The drill with the hammer drill setting, as well as 3 options for the light makes for an amazing tool.

Hammer drill problems
I use them frequently, however after a year the drill gear switcher broke because it’s sliding plastic inside that snapped off so I was stuck on first gear. I managed to shove it into 2 taking it apart. After a few minutes using the hammer mode for concrete drilling it stopped grabbing gear completely. I had about 15 mins worth of constant concrete drilling and it just broke itself internally, likely because the cheap gear switcher plastic was broken and it was bouncing between gears in hammer mode until it destroyed itself.

High quality tools worth their price
Over the past couple months I have become a fan of the Dewalt cordless tools. This combo set is high quality and comes at a great value. Two tools, two batteries, and a charger all in one package. I find that I take more pride in my projects now that I have tools with enough power to get the job done with ease. I will definitely be adding more Dewalt tools to my collection.

Great set
The assembly is a little loose, but everything is done firmly and reliably. Been using it for over 6 months every day for about an hour. Everything works great
