Q: Is the handle made of plastic or metal?

Metal skeleton with a plastic like material for the handle and blade storage compartment. It looks like plastic but has a different fell. I really like mine (I have 2). Well made and heavy duty. I haven't seen the thumb rest on other blades either and I like that. Your mileage may vary.

Q: what medal part do I press to fold it back? I have pressed everything and it will not fold back!

Dear KarenThe red part has a groove where you can see the metal, press the metal part to the groove, don't loose it, then fold the blade back, release the metal part.
