DEWALT DW2701 #8 Drill Flip Drive Complete Unit, yellow

I picked up the DEWALT DW2701 #8 Drill Flip Drive and haven't looked back. It's incredibly sturdy and the flip drive is a real game-changer – makes swapping bits a breeze. It's compact enough to fit in tight spaces, and the yellow color is surprisingly easy to spot in my toolbox.

I inherited one of these from a friend who passed. Had never seen one before, but loved the concept as soon as I had. Having the screwdriver bit on the opposite end of the drill bit really saves time and allows you to cruise through your projects. I do find the tiny Allen-wrenched set screws a little hard to work with, but that’s mostly a blindness/lack of good light in my shop issue. Bought this one for a colleague who was as equally impressed as I was. Great deal for a great tool!

Been using these for years from several manufacturers, but can't find them in stores anymore. The Dewalt were always the best. Only thing is the thick shaft doesn't fit in impact drills as some do. Still worth it...

So partly on me that I didn't read that this doesn't work in an impact driver and is only meant for a drill. So grabbed a drill and tried to use it and none of the set screws were tight and it literally came apart in my hand. Once I tracked down the small (standard not metric) allen key (not included) and tightened everything up it worked great.

Quick and easy.

I have three of these. All failed. While they are the best design going (of those I have seen) it has one very irritating flaw. When I drill the pilot hole the housing fails to grip the mandrel so it stays in the board when I pull the drill back. Inside the yellow housing there is one retainer instead of three, five, or six found on air hose couplings. The retainer is too small diameter and does not consistently grip the mandrel. It is a real p.i.t.a. having to pull the mandrel out of the wood while putting up fence pickets. Black & Decker/DeWalt, please improve this product with either a larger retainer roller pin or more retainers around the housing.

I have had a number of these over the years, and they are in my opinion the best ones on the market! They are fast to flip over the the countersink, and they just push right back in without having to hold anything up for it to lock in. You can put whatever size countersink in it and you can have the drill bit out as long as you want as there is plenty of room. These hold up really well and have always been my go-to drivers!

handy tool to have in the tool kit! nice for making shelves! they work for basic drywall screws to get a flush fit on the joints. buy extra bits. they work well in any mid sized 20 volt battery drill. i would buy at least two of them.
