Exactly what I wanted! I put this on my dog, who is part pit so has a very high pain threshold, and at first I set it on it's lowest setting. The original problem was he would bark obsessively at squirrels...and I mean obsessively! I would watch a squirrel run across our fence..queue the barking. Then the squirrel would run down the next yard, up a tree, and over a roof....and 5 minutes after the squirrel had disappeared that dog was still barking in his general direction! So after one day on a low setting had been reduced a little, but not much. On day 2 I turned it up to about half way mark and left it there for about 3 days. It was interesting to see. Each day my dog's nuisance barking decreased a little more until it got to the point where the obsessive barking was totally gone! He does still bark sometimes, which is good. The other thing I like is that I never heard my dog yelp from this collar. He was never weirded out, didn't run to the porch with his tail between his legs. He's still the same old lunatic, running around and having a good time. My dogs happiness is very important to me, and I think this collar was wonderful...it got his barking under control without breaking his spirit. I highly recommend it.

OUCH! DELIFINITELY WORKS. Shes has learn barking is a no no on the first day. Lets see she remembers it everyday

I am dissapointed in this training collar. It didn't beep when the dog would bark and bark. The collar on the smallest setting was still too big for our 21# pug.

I have owned this product for ~30 hours now, and the ONLY reason I waited so long to post my review is that I felt it was only fair to wait and see if something went wrong after initial use.It didn't.This collar is hands-down the very best purchase I have made for my dog. We have two Shih Tzus - one is sweet and silent, and the other barks at everyone who walks through the door. Sometimes it's just for a minute, sometimes it is the entire time they're in our home. (So sorry, refrigerator repair man!) It was incredibly frustrating and embarrassing, and nothing we did ever worked to shut her up. Enter this collar.It came in a few pieces, with the unit separate from the collar itself, and the battery uninstalled (but included - yay!) There was also a small bag with additional screw on 'pins' and a clear plastic...something. I will be honest and tell you that I don't know what that item is or what it is used for, but it doesn't appear to be critical for use. The pins, I believe from prior experience with an underground fence collar, are for use with larger dogs and/or dogs with thicker coats of fur, to ensure that the unit is in contact with the dog's skin. These were not necessary on my dog so I didn't investigate further. Unfortunately the included instructions did not address either of these items, so I remain unsure of when/how to use them. I set aside.The battery was easy to install, and the unit came conveniently ready to operate upon installation, so I didn't have to change any settings at all. The collar was simple to slide through the electronic unit and adjust to the right length for my dog. It's a nylon strap so you can easily cut to length if desired. Just as I was snapping it shut around her neck, our doorbell rang. Perfect timing! The dog barked once, then immediately stopped. And I do mean IMMEDIATELY! She looked confused and stood very still, and our whole family cheered. Finally some peace!The unit emits a beep to warn to the dog, and delivers a small jolt if the dog barks. It is NOT painful. Yes we did test it. It is simply an unpleasant sensation, which I would compare to the shock you get with static electricity from time to time. Not painful, but it gets your attention. For my 10 pound dog, it was enough to shut her up right away. She barked one single time several hours later, almost as if she forgot what would happen. Again, she stopped immediately. She has since done something a few times that caused the warning beep to signal, but she's never barked again. And she has not seemed hurt or altered in any way - still eating, drinking, playing and snuggling as normal. The only difference is that she hasn't harassed our guests. Hallelujah!If you're on the fence, don't be. I have already sung the praises of this product to 9 people. I was shocked and very disappointed. The anti-bark unit still works fine, but I'm having trouble finding another collar to put it on. The ones sold in stores are sewn together, and this requires a collar that isn't sewn so the unit can slide onto the collar. I will have to take apart and re-sew one from the store, which is a big pain.I'm still happy with the actual function of the unit, but if a collar only last two weeks on an 8 pound Shih Tzu, I'm not impressed with durability. For that reason I am downgrading to 3 stars. Bummer.

I am loving this collar. It really didn't take long for my dog to get the hang of it. It gives them a warning beep on the first bark, then a longer beep on the second and then a mild shock on the third bark within thirty seconds. My dogs will bark at anything, sometimes even just one of us coming back into the room! I have tried several other products to deter the barking and nothing seemed to help. I honestly didn't have much faith that this would. But within about 20 minutes of having it on, he doesn't bark at anything more than once. He knows that the beeping noise means he should stop. Although, as soon as you take it off of him, he knows he can bark again. I really needed something for them when we go to our beach house as there are a lot of people and noises and the neighbors are really close. These dogs drive us and the neighbors batty when we're there. We have gone as far as boarding the three dogs just so as not to disturb the neighbors there on the weekends. I have already placed a second order and have two more of these coming. All three of my dogs will be armed with these on the next beach trip (as well as anytime we expect company at our house). I'm so extremely thankful to have found something that works. The only bad thing about our dogs is their barking, other than that, they're perfect little pets.
