Got it as a gift for my artist wife and it works great for smaller canvases. The niceTouch is being able to lock the canvas in so it doesn’t move once in the easel. She loves it.

I needed an easel to do pastel paintings. I needed it to be able to use at almost 90 degree angle so the dust falls straight down. I went to Home Depot and bought a length of masonite/hardboard. Like a clipboard material. I cut it 15"×15" and clipped to the easel. Works like a charm. Now I can tape my paper to the board. Works great. Nice to be able to sit at a table. For added security I lay a brick on top of the rod in the back because at this angle it can tip forward if you are clumsy like me.

Easel is well made and looks great. My only complaint is that the height bar on it’s lowest setting is 16 inches from the bottom support bar. I wanted this easel to support an 8x10 canvas. Another Amazon reviewer from a similar easel posted a picture of their solution to this problem. It is a simple diy (with a little help from my dad 😃) Ta da...problem solved. This easel is sturdy and solid, quickly replaced after I received the style with a drawer that had a little damage. After I arranged for an exchange I realized I did not need the drawer (just redid my studio, new work table top on drawers and cabinets) or the large canvas extension (if I work large I have my floor easel). Ordered this model, canceled the replacement of the first, complicated. Not for this seller. Received this model in a few days and refund for the model with drawer just after that. Excellent.

Out of the box fully assembled and holding a small canvas on my desk in about 3 minutes. Essentially no setup other than unfolding it and standing it up. Appears reasonably sturdy and of good quality.

I had been looking for a small easel to set up on a table. This one was the perfect size, and I like that I can expand it to fit larger canvases.
