These are great little guys!
If you follow the instructions you will have success. This is now my 4th kit and each time I ended up with 5 to 8 triops. When they first hatch out you'll see dozens but they are known to cannibalize each other so keep that in mind. These little guys are crustaceans so they require the limestone to be added so they can molt and grow. The local store should have gallon bottles of distilled water. I place two tanks side by side with limestones in them. One they hatch out in and once that's dirty they are moved to the second tank that has already acclimated and is the same room temperature. Their life span is about 8 weeks. Some have lived longer and it's pretty cool to see the eggs develop on their legs. Keep these guys fed! As they get older the weak ones will be eaten by the others. For the price and fun these guys have brought me I suggest you give it a try. Hope my review helped you understand their care more.

Cool idea but didn't hatch.
Definitely wouldn't purchase again. They never hatched and I even sent in for more eggs. I followed the instructions to a T. Next time I'll stick to sea monkeys, something I know works.

A good science project for children
These are totally cool! They look like little horseshoe crabs. They grow so fast and it’s so fun to watch. The beginning process is so fickle, make sure you follow the directions to a T, and make sure you find natural spring water. Water that has been filtered will not work. DO NOT put into a tank with other fish, it WILL get eaten. We miss Frank.. RIP FRANK!

This idea was a complete fail, I did like how they were transparent and "ghostly" but overall it was hard to see them grow or if they hatched at all. Theres a 50/50 chance that it will hatch, or a few will hatch or none will hatch at all.

This is a great kit if care instructions are put next to the ...
Fragile creatures - care instructions have to be followed by the letter! We accidentally killed ours with the first water change. If you successfully hatch them, google triops care for detailed instructions and be sure to follow them. They are not the tough buggers people might think they are. This is a great kit if care instructions are put next to the bowl and important things highlighted. I would give five stars if there was a warning in big red letters not to change the water all at once.

Do not buy if you are looking for a pet ...
Do not buy if you are looking for a pet where you can just dump the eggs and leave them. These do have some very specific needs but I adore them! If you are able to raise them to adulthood, it is very rewarding. If you do it correctly expect 1-4 fully grown because the bigger ones eat the smaller ones. I have two as of now

Never hatched, confusing instructions
Cute idea and it came eith everything it said, but mine never hatched. It’s entirely possible that it was user error, but there are a lot of instructions included, some of which are confusing and/or difficult to follow.

Came in good condition
I bought these to grow for their own aquarium. The box came with the eggs in a bit of sand, some small (1-2 mm) chunks of limestone, baby and adult food. And a dropper which I still don't understand why was included. It does come with instructions but to be honest it doesn't take a genius to understand how to add water to a dish. Speaking of dishes, it comes with no hatching dish which is absolutely fine because they can pretty much hatch in just a glass of warm water with a light shining on it. Do not even attempt to hatch these with fish around, they will be dead within seconds of swimming out of the soil. If you want your triops with fish, wait until their young adult stage and then they are big enough to be added.
