Pros:-stunning look, one of a kind, will make you stand out;-amazingly comfortable when standing (!) long hours;-very high quality materials and very well made;-true to size, perfect fit;Cons:-very frustrating that they are not comfortable from the first day; in my case, the first three days were the worst, then it was getting better and better every day; rather then breaking them in, it is more about your feet getting used to this kind of sandal; if you are madly in love with the design (like I am) then you will get through, if not, you will end up selling them on ebay;-unwashable; you need to accept the fact they look scruffy;-walking long distances? Rather not..-pricey; I paid £59 and that is max I would pay for them (online Birkenstock shop sell them for £80).Overall, it all depends what you want - comfort or stunning look? These sandals are definitely more about the latter. They do stand out and add this sparkle to your outfit. You won’t find a better design when you love organic/nature related style.

I really wanted a pair of Birkenstock sandals for the summer and did a lot of research with a particular eye on value for money. The sandals were exactly what I was looking for a well priced.

As my photos show, the 'oiled black' I ordered (picture 1) turned out to be a different kind of black than the one I ordered. I won't be sending them back because A: I need them now, and B: are not such a bad colour, and I can live with it. Be aware that if like myself you're a size 10 shoe, buy a 9.5, as Birkies tend to be a little on the large size. Would have given these 5 stars, if it wasn't for colour discrepancy, but otherwise I can't recommend these enough!

As someone who lives in flip flops in the summer but has been told not to wear them because they aggravate my lower back pain, I have been delighted to discover Birkenstocks. They took a few days to wear in but are now so comfortable that I can't see me wearing anything else all summer! They feel very supportive and the high strap means that they stay on well - I have walked miles in them. The most important thing for me was realising that they aren't a flip flop and should be securely fitted to your foot - once I tightened the strap so they weren't flopping up and down it made an immediate difference to the comfort of the shoe. I am usually a 6.5 and the 39 is a good fit. Don't be tempted to go too small as you need room for your feet away from the edges. I'm a Birks convert!

My second pair …….wore the tread off the soles of the first pair which lasted for many years! Also they wear in quite quickly and become like slippers. Versatile shoe for home use or out and about. I order one smaller size than ‘normal shoe’ and are fine.

I love Birkenstocks I have three different pairs, all of which are so comfortable. I was having a lot of foot pain, so I decided that Birkenstocks offered the kind of arch support I needed. My feet are feeling a lot better, so it will be Birkenstocks all the way for me.

UPDATE AUGUST 2021. I purchased these in September 2019, and within a couple of weeks had serious blisters on the ball of my left foot. I wore them again during the summer of 2020, and as long as I only wore them around the house all was fine. However, the first time I wore them again for a longish flat walk I had huge blisters in the same place. The fault with the left sandal has just got worse, with the leather stretching so much that I was unable to adjust it to fit. Terrible quality. Purchased from TOPBRANDS4YOU, through Amazon, but I reckon they were either Birkenstock seconds or knock-offs. TERRIBLE PRODUCT, DO NOT BUY FROM THESE SUPPLIERS. I have had to buy another pair this year, but I purchased direct from Birkenstock. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!My podiatrist recommended Birkenstock as I have been having problems with my feet. When product arrived all seemed OK, fit was good and they looked quite nice. I left for a short holiday the next day so decided to take them with me to wear. They were quite comfortable, even allowing for 'breaking them in'. However, the strap on the left sandal was longer than the strap on the right sandal, and to get the right sandal to fit properly it has pulled the centre strap to one side, making it look a bit lopsided. A little disappointed with the quality as expected the brand to be top quality.

Birhkenstock Gizeh - awesome ! A size smaller might have been better, but these are good. Straps are correct length this time - great -they were a bit too loose last pair. Didn’t stop me wearing them & walking literally 100’s of miles in them, so bought leather ones this time & really happy. Soooo comfortable after perseverance. Wear them whenever possible - dream footwear ☀️😊
