Sadness..
I’m a huge Paul Tremblay fan and I gave him such a hard time on Twitter that I waited so long for this book. With that said, the most depressing book I’ve read.. I’m sad over this, there and a no hope, no light... it’s a gut wrenching story after story. 4 stars for the writing but my soul won’t be the same with no redemption, nothing but terrifying black, suicide and dark places. Maybe because it’s summer here? Or not.. not in this book.. sorry my friend... I’ll be looking for your next amazing book!

I've read better...
This is the first book I've ever pre-ordered. I was going to read it during my son's hospital stay since I'd have time on my hands. I loved his previous novels but this one is...dull. I went into it gung-ho hoping it would get better but now it is 3 months later and I haven't finished it. I just can't even be bothered to start it up again.

Makes the mundane, creep
I never thought I'd get the creeps from reading a story about end times due to aggressive plants. Paul Tremblay made it possible.

Fantastic Book
A real page turner. I was not only happy with the product, I was also happy with the service The book arrived within couple of days. It was in great condition and very easy on the bank account

Creepy!!
These stories are insanely strange and bizarre; extreme squirrelliness. I don't get much "horror", but what I do get is a flesh crawling creepiness in a few and in others wholehearted WTF moments. There's a bit of Shirley Jackson in these stories, and also that same look-over-your-shoulder-to-see-if-you're-being-followed scariness in Anne Rivers Siddons "The House Next Door". I thoroughly enjoyed these stories, and I completely agree with Tremblay, as he observes that what you remember from a story, is how you felt. For me, it was "WOW".

Weird Ideas Looking For Stories
I stuck with the book for the first three stories, thinking that surely one would be enticing -- and the third, Something About Birds, got off to an interesting start -- but in the end all three were just odd and felt unfinished. Ever seen some odd bit of modern art and walked away thinking you must be missing the point? That's where these stories left me. Maybe they're brilliant in some artsy nouveau way, but I'd be open to other possibilities. Some reviewers here seemed to enjoy the book, so maybe you will, too. I'm not going to bother reading further, though; three was enough. It may just be as bad as SWIM thinks.

one of the kings of horror
sometimes fantastic realism laced with horror and sometimes the other way around. The gift of Tremblay is that his stories are always rooted with character (growing things... rooted...sic) Great collection.
