Fantastic 2+Pistoi Carrier Case, with plenty of foam padding and Heavy Foam bias separation!!
They say that this case can be used for "up to four (4) pistols" but I defy anyone to do such a thing if two of the pistols happen to be full-sized or larger revolvers or target pistols...for my purposes I can fit my Crosman/Benjamin American Classic #1377 .177"-Cal antique pistol (built and bought by yours truly in 1995-96) in the front half of the case, and put my Vigilante .177"-Cal Revolver in the bottom and rear half that's left over for storage considering how big the Classic is! Those two pistols fit absolutely correctly inside this great, padded and protective, lockable case for travel or storage, with plenty of breathing room for either one.But I do NOT dare to try and import yet a 3rd or 4th pistol into this mix as it just would not work at all! You'd be banging one pistol on and/or over another one to do such a feat, so don't bother trying yourselves, just settle for using two (2) two larger pistols in this case by Plano molding Company, Inc, end of story. You can, and some people do tamper with the inside racks of heavy foam to tailor said foam into shapes for various pistols and other items for travel and storage, but I've left the insides of mine absolutely OEM stocka configuration, and it works a treat just as is.I like the fact that there are twin lock ports on the case, to really secure the pistols inside in the advent of using the case for airline or other security-conscious travel or storage, also. There is no doubt in my mind that with two Master padlocks in place, or better locks than the Master even, that the case would withstand the rigors of "passing a security test", albeit such an effort would make the pistols virtually impossible to get at in a clean, and normal fashion sans the keys to the lock! There is adequate room sculpted into the Plano case to allow for two huge padlocks for ultimate beefy security if that is what you need to do, for whatever reason. The case is inexpensive, constructed with great care and thought to both secure the pistols well inside, and outside security means are also accommodated well with the twin padlock configuration being an easy workup. I highly recommend the Plano case under review here for anyone's two or three, four pistols storage (possibly, given that the four would be smaller pistols than mine are) use without any hesitation whatsoever. It will work out great for any type of pistol setup, save for one of the machine pistols with greater than 12+-inch barrel length, anything like that just won't fit! But normal sized to larger pistols like my twins work just great with this case, and there's nothing to hold me back from telling everyone reading this review that it's a great case, and to get one while they are still being made!--Wavey Davey--3-02-2014

Will hold the big 'uns!
This case does hold the big revolvers! I carried four revolvers in this case on my last trip, including an 8 3/8" Taurus Raging Bull, two 7 1/2" barreled revolvers, and a revolver with a 4" barrel. My MTM two-revolver case that is advertised to carry two big revolvers (as long as they are not too big, I guess) has been demoted to carry my FRS hunting radios and accessories. Carrying both the Raging Bull and a 7 1/2" barreled Ruger was a tight squeeze in the MTM, but not in the Plano case. The latches are secure and the guns stayed put when traveling.Good value!Update March 2014The case still does everything I need it to do. I am currently researching a case to hold my hunting/camping electronics, radios, flashlights, battery cells, chargers, and the miscellaneous items that go with them. While looking, I read reviews on the Plano Protector Four Pistol Case model number 1404-02 Plano Protector Four Pistol Case. One reviewer wrote "Plano makes one other case very similar to this one, but I have to wonder why anyone would buy it other than lack of research." I'm assuming he meant this one because it is $10 more. This case, model 10164, has steel hinge pins, instead of just molded plastic tab hinges. Granted, the steel pins are run through plastic hinges. But, when carrying four large, heavy, and expensive revolvers, I feel the extra $10 and the steel running through the hinges is worth it.I'll probably spend the extra $10 again, just to have the added piece of mind when you are carrying around hundreds or thousands of dollars of personal items. For the same money, this particular Plano product beats MTM's product.

Great size but
Great size but wouldn’t rely on it to travel without supervision as it’s kind of thin.

A good value and reasonably strong case.
For the price, you can’t beat these. Since the case has two padded levels, you can easily pack even more than 4 guns, depending on the gun size. My only complaint is that if you really want it locked up securely, you need 2 locks, one for each side. If you only use a single lock on the center, you might be able to get into the interior through the side and pull something out. Just buy a set of locks from amazon that use a single key. These are convenient for car transport. Highly recommended.

Kinda Cheap
This case will hold a lot of guns, but it's not built well enough to travel. I just throw in a bunch of guns when I go to the gun range. It does that job very well, but I would never try to take it on a plane or anywhere where it might get tossed around or abused.

Great for a quick trip to the range
The main drawback is the plastic is very thin and to some would feel "cheap." I wouldn't use this to transport my guns anywhere that I would have to submit them to other people to handle (flying etc). Great for a quick trip to the range. Definitely does the job as an inexpensive case. Foam is thick and certainly keeps objects in place. Less than rigid plastic sometimes makes closing the case a bit difficult. Would recommend, especially on sale.
