The sharks are the attraction in this game.
My 6/7 year old grandson loves sharks so I though this would be a fun game for him. He continues to play it with anyone who will play with him. Not too difficult to understand so he keeps interested.

Fun Card Game
Great little card game that provides easy entertainment. Although the number of cards makes things a little limiting, still a decent game!

Confusing rules but kids LOVE it!
My kids (ages 6, 7, and 10) LOVED Atomic Sharks. The rules were a little confusing, and I think we might still be playing it wrong, but they don't care. The first time we played, we left all the players' hands face-up until we got the hang of it. The point of the game is to not get out (if you draw an "atomic shark" card and have no "disarm" card, you're out). What they all ended up doing is cooperating to try and keep everyone in the game using their "not so fast" cards. So if someone drew an "atomic shark" and couldn't disarm it, another player would step in and save them using their "not so fast" card and cancelling it out (I'm almost positive we're doing it wrong). They had a BLAST playing this game, but I kept wondering when it was going to end. If everyone is rescued and no one gets out, you just keep going and going! I need to teach them something about healthy competition! At the end of the day though, for the low price we paid (one of the main reasons I bought this) compared to similar games, this was well worth it. They are already asking tonight if we can play again tomorrow after school!

Okay, but not my fav.
Basically exploding kittens, but the paper quality not great. Thin and kinda flimsy.

Great until...
For my girls (9yo and 5yo), Atomic Sharks sat right in the sweet spot between Uno and Go Fish with much zanier illustrations. While they had a blast (pun intended) rolling through the deck, the nuance of building strategies around cards like "peek ahead" were more prevalent when my friends and I sat down to play. All of which sounds great until......until you realize that one of the most supported and anticipated Kickstarter games of the year last year was Exploding Kittens (currently Amazon's #2 seller in the Games & Toys category!), which Atomic Sharks has basically just stolen. Exploding kittens has an identical rule set, even using the same verbiage like "defuse". Even the humor is a direct port ("enchilada" -> "burrito").While imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, a little more creative interpretation and a lot less blatant plagiarism could've made Atomic Sharks a fun game in its own right. Instead it's an attempt to cash in on someone else's ideas and work, and that's not fun.I received this from the manufacturer as a free sample in exchange for an unbiased review.
