Wow, these Z brackets totally blew me away! They’re chunky, super sturdy, and way bigger than most I’ve checked out. Love the two mounting holes for lag bolts—makes ’em rock-solid. Comes with stainless steel bolts, nuts, washers, and lock washers (nice touch!). The lag bolts themselves aren’t stainless, but they have grommets and get sealed with silicone anyway—so they shouldn’t ever touch water (and if they do, you’ll probably have bigger leak issues to worry about!). Pro tip: Grab the easy install guide in the document section of the single Z bracket listing—it’s great for RV roofs or shingles! A small price to secure your investment and not damage the neighbour's during a wind storm

I am doing a small solar powered battery install to have back up power in my house, to keep the furnace fan running during power outages for example. I was getting new asphalt shingles on my roof, so I asked the roofer to install the 2 solar panels for me. It was easy to attach the brackets to my Noma brand solar panels using the included hardware, and instructions I found in a Youtube video for these brackets. I purchased some 3" x 1/4" galvanized lag bolts at the hardware store (I would have preferred stainless but none available locally) and they fit the holes in the brackets perfectly. My house has an old roof made out of 3/4" shiplap (not plywood) so the roofer wasn't concerned if the bolts were going in to rafters or not. I made sure the panels were at least 3 feet away from the peak or edges of the roof. We have frequent high winds where I live, so will see how these brackets stand up. Will update in the future if anything concerning happens. I did not use the mounting screws that came in the package, I believe they are for metal RV roofs, not wood and shingle house roofs. Since I was mounting 2 panels, it was handy to be able to buy a package of 2 sets (8 brackets in total, 4 per panel). Brackets seem to be made out of aluminum, as they are light weight, but seem well made and sturdy. I bought my Noma brand solar panels at Canadian Tire for a good price on Boxing Day, but they did not come with brackets, so these fit the bill. I am trying to use Renogy for all the other components. I purchased their Lycan solar generator and am impressed so far.
