DOA and Bad After-service
This review is in regards not only to the product received but, the seller and his service after he received my money.Product:It seemed packed well and arrived in a timely matter for this I give one star.The issue was the plant seemed a little strained. In 3 weeks it is now dead. Let me state even though this is what some may consider, "A beginners kit", I am not a beginner. I just needed some of the items that come in the kit and it was farily priced for the tree and the kit and I gave the book to a friend who is interested in learning about Bonsai. The reason I mention this, is because it is a well known fact that junipers will conceal any health issues until they are at the point of death. In other words, this juniper was dead or near death before it was shipped or died during shipping and did not exhibit the issues until after I received it.Service:Now, this would all be "ok" I suppose but, kind of a bummer. But, nevertheless, it would be ok in the end. Most normal merchants would simply send another plant or refund the purchase price. Not Joe Bonsai however. After sending him a polite message asking how we could resolve this, I never received an answer. After 5 business days I decided to take this to Amazon claims- guess what? He still hasn't responded.Googling around I see that a number of people have bought from Joe Bonsai and have had the same issue, plant arrived and dead in a week or two.So I suppose that if you get a good tree that lasts more than a few weeks then, good for you. However, if yours dies within a week or two or so expect a long drawn out affair to get it replaced or to get reimbursed. Guess it's a roll of the dice that Joe isn't willing to pay for.

Outstanding Bonsi
Wonderful item . packed with care . no damage to the tree at all .The booklet has clear instructions to follow , my husband has always wanted one and has had his head stuck in this book ever since we got it . The tree its self is full grown and they are of very good quality . there are some basic tools but nothing fancy just enough to alow you to shape and tease ( i think thats the right terms lol) the foods are a deffernt bouns . over all this is a wonderful item to get into the bonsi growing the book its self we think is a great selling point but thats personal oppinion . the pot is well okay youll need to find another one to say the least sometimes we realy cant judge the book by its cover but realy give this a go . realy worth the money.

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my father who loves to be outside doing yardwork. I figured it would give him something to do during the cold and snowy winter months. They say "expect to kill your first bonsai, but his is still going strong."

Great kit, but don't expect the round bowl.
It's everything it appears except I didn't get the round bowl. I instead got a thick plastic rectangular bowl. I replaced it. The scissors are heavy duty/sharp. The two bottles of fertilizer work. My plant has been doing fine since I got it. The plant was in very good shape and pretty full. It also came with wire and a China man. I highly suggest this as your first tree. Just don'texpect to recieve the round bowl.

Great Starter Kit!
This kit is perfect as a gift to someone who is just getting interested in Bonsai. It has everything you need to get started on your first tree, and the tree itself is very healthy and nice-looking when it arrives. The book is filled with good hints and instructions on how to care for the tree. It also comes with an adorable little fisherman figurine.

Awesome gift!
I bought this for my father who retired recently. It gave him something to focus on and he cares for it daily. It is fairly easy to maintain and still looks great! BONSAI!!!

INCREDIBLE BUY!!
I cannot say enough about this... It arrived in great condition and came with great accessories at a wonderful price. Items bought seperately would have been waaay more expensive! I purchased it as a gift and everyone has raved about it. The book didn't give the best information on how/why to wire the tree and how/why to trim it, so you may be interested in additional reading that you can probably find for free online anyhow -- still a nice, full color book. A++++++++++++
