With the log shortages last year and having logged my own pollarded Sycamore I wanted to check that the delivered stuff and my own logs were dry . Both were over 20% so glad I didn't burn them . Looking good now so will definitely be fine by next winter. This machine is easy to set up and use and hopefully is accurate .The readout is clear . You get a spare pair of probe pins which is great .It's just comforting to know you're not clogging up your flue and not polluting.

Great kit if you burn logs to survive in this high prices of gas and electricity we brought an outside look cooker with oven and use this for our food cooking. So burning logs is important if dried below the 20% moisture.Great kit and recommended

It's a great looking piece of kit, the others looked better placed in a toolbox but as this was for a log burner it's place is in the living room on show most of the time.The only reason that it is missing a 5 star review are two small things, the cap that protects the two measuring spikes is really difficult to remove which was really frustrating so i now leave it off but it doesn't seem to be a problem. The other one is probably just the way i use it - it would be nice if the screen could rotate like an iphone so you could read the meter inverted.I only use it for logs to make sure they have less than 20% moisture. After some experimenting and getting used to it (pressing all the buttons etc) I found that if it's simply on the log setting (pic of tree) you can just press the power/mode button to wake it and it switches on and it keeps the last setting with no other button presses. Then you just put the spikes on a log which automatically switches the backlight on to show the moisture reading, then after a couple of seconds the light goes off, put it in another place on the same log and it goes on again (just to make sure as you may have moisture only one end of a log) then when you are finished you just leave it as it'll switch off by itself.I've been using it for almost two weeks and it's been invaluable, some logs i thought were dry were not, and others i thought were wet were just cold, so without this I would have had sooting on the glass, spitting and all the problems with wet logs, because even if you buy logs dry they can get damp in storage so it's worth checking before popping them on the fire.

Product was packaged well, came with spare probes which was handy. Instructions are OK, the device is easy to use and seems pretty accurate
