National Hardware N265-363 V570 Continuous Hinge in Brass,1-1/2" x 12"

Best price, perfect product. I bought this for a blanket chest that I made. I just cut the hinge to exact length with an angle grinder (any abrasive metal cutting blade will go through it like butter) and screwed it down. Hinge installation is not for everyone, but if you have the right vix bit and know what you are doing then this product will create a virtually indestructible and visually perfect hinge joint for your project. I would not be surprised if inexperienced consumers find it very difficult to install a piano hinge, and/or end up with poor results but that is not due to a problem with this hinge. I recommend creating something with scrap lumber that will allow you to clamp both sides of the workpiece into the exact alignment, then mark where the hinge needs to be. Depending on the workpiece, you may want to remove one side of the workpiece at that point if needed in order to use a straightedge to ensure the hinge is being is being fastened down in a perfectly straight line. Then clamp the workpiece back into position and fasten the other edge. That part is essential because it is super easy to introduce a slight curve to it, which results in a very poor hinge joint that will bind. Again, the installation issues are nothing specific to this hinge, but technique is critical to getting good results with any piano hinge.

The unit I received was NOT a 12" manufactured unit. I purchased this 12" piano hinge rather than cut a longer hinge down to size because when you cut a piano hinge it always damages the finish. The unit I received was in the original manufacturer's packaging...but had been cut to length and guess what? Yup, the finish was damaged (photo attached).My second gripe is that other piano hinges I've purchased were designed so that both leaves slide in between the door and frame, only the hinge is exposed. This unit doesn't do that unless you're okay with a very wide gap between the door and frame.

At first it seemed like this hinge was a little thin and might not be strong enough. But once it was mounted, it worked just fine. I used it to mount a 24 inch TV in my RV bedroom, replacing the old unit. Now I can raise the TV up because of the hinge, and take advantage of the space formally lost by the depth of the old unit.

I used this hinge on a window seat. I was a little concerned about the 3/4” plywood seat lid being warped, that it might warp the hinge. The hinge didn’t warp, and it pulled the warp out of the plywood. It came with enough screws.

The product is great. But they are delivered in envelopes. Everyone has been ripped and either one of the few have one missing or the product is bent or in one case all the screws fell out.

I made a gate to prevent my granddaughter from going down a staircase and used two lengths and a metal strip from Home Depot. Excellent force needed to open gate.

Very inferior product for the price -

decent quality & will serve the purpose I intended it for. Don't think I would attach anything really heavy with it but will work fine with the hinged peg board I'm going to install. Will install with heavier screws that those included.
