This is a completely unique, one-of-a kind handmade wooden bowl, crafted by the renowned wood artisan known as Baba. Baba does not use apprentices or employees and no part of his bowl making-process is automated. From cutting the logs through turning the bowls, sanding, polishing and shipping, all tasks are carefully and expertly handled by Baba himself. Each tree used in the making of a Babas bowl is selected for the richness of its history. Babas Wooden bowls are not made from just any trees, but exclusively from trees that carry a deep emotional history. Some were planted by a bride and groom on their wedding day; some were planted to commemorate a death or a birth; others have guarded the entrance to a town for over half a century, or represented meaning or importance in a deeply personal way to an individual or community. All of the trees have a story, and that richness is what Baba brings to each unique bowl that he painstakingly crafts by hand, in the isolated privacy of Babas Bowl Works, located deep in the backcountry of the Cascade Mountains in western Washington State.
