Continental Set of 2 Grand Prix 5000 TL, Tubeless Racing Bike Tires, Black, Folding

The Continental 5000TL is a product that no one should by online. After waiting for them to arrive for a week from a nearby location, which was longer than it takes some things to come from overseas, both tires bled sealant from the sidewalls. I've had this problem twice before and only with the Conti 5000TL. As with the other two occasions sealant began to bubble and ooze from the tire within 20 to 30 minutes, only then it happenned in a bike shop where luckily I was able to get an immediate replacement. However if this happens after a week long wait from Amazon while your bike sits in the garage and you're hoping for a ride, you're in trouble. It's better to take your chances at a shop.Continental's highly anticipated answer to the tubeless genre, the 5000TL is at once, remarkable, durable and smooth when they work, but are an abyssmal failure when they flop. Just the idea of a brand new tire fresh out of the box bleeding sealant is outright rediculous. What I don't understand is why there's no press on such a significant flaw. These tires have been around long enough for others to see it.This tire has just about soured me on tubeless tires altogether simply because as top notch as they are, even on their best day they couldn't handle the streets of the big city. I got flats at least every two or three weeks while the sealant barely held, deflating my tire to a mere 40psi. Trying to re-inflate the tire to 90 or 100psi only blew more sealant out. I think I'll just head on back to the tube with light tires and light rims, at least I can patch a flat instead of walking home because sealants or plugs won't work. Plus I don't have to bust my knuckles trying to take off and refit a wet tire.As for those who ride on glass or debris free trails and roads etc, etc, the 5000's are supposed to last 6000 miles, I say go for it. Just don't take the chance on an online purchase.

I initially used the Mavic tires that came with my UST wheels, but it seemed like once a week they would get a new cut or chunk taken out of them, eventually leaking and having to rely on sealant/tire plugs to keep rolling. I was almost ready to give up on tubeless until I got these. I have ridden a previous pair for over 1,800 miles and they still look brand new. They hold up much better, give great traction on the road regardless of whether it is wet and roll really nice. My only complaint is that they can be difficult to get on the rims as they are a tight fit.

Woo Hoo. I really wanted to order the new GP5000S TR, but couldn't find any in stock so I ordered previous version GP5000 TL instead. When they arrived I was very pleasantly surprised to receive the latest S TR version.I've used the 5000 TL for a few years now and love them. Traction, handling, and durability are excellent. I ride about 9000 miles a year and get 6500-6900 miles on the tires before they wear out. Based on reviews, I expect the 5000S TR to be even better.

I bought these to replace the same tire that came with my bike when I bought it. The first pair lasted over 4,500 miles on rough Central Texas chip and seal roads. They were used with tubes. I converted to tubeless when I installed this pair. After I few rides, I think they run a little smoother and are a little more comfortable in the tubeless configuration. I will say they are pretty difficult to mount the first time. I had to bring them to the local bike shop to get the last few inches over the edge of the rim, although that may be due to my weak 70 year old thumbs. I like these tires. I have been riding on Continental tires for a lot of years and you can’t beat their quality.
