now on vinyl - mostly.
I never thought I'd see a vinyl release of this album (one of my all time favorite albums), but thanks to the huge resurgence in the medium, here we are 19 years later. Overall the quality is solid. Not the thickest wax, but not a thin pressing either. The sleeve is standard, no insert, generic white inner, the album is on black vinyl and the center label is the star familiar to anyone who had the CD release. Which is perfectly fine - especially the label design. My main gripe is that the mastering sounds a bit flat and there is no low end to this album - which is especially noticible on songs like Mexico, Interstate and Suckerpunch - where the bass lines are integral to the songs but fade into the background. On At-12 Cerwin Vegas that normally shake the house, and even with the bass cranked all the way to 11, the album is still all highs and mids. Which is great for the guitar and vocals, but the percussion and bass suffers a lot. I think this might be the album that gets me to add a sub to my setup to see what it can pull out of these grooves, because there is a bit to be desired. It sounds clean, just...it's not quite all there. 5 stars for the album for sure, but I'm slightly disappointed with the mastering. Still worth picking up if this album means anything to you though.

Just as Great as I Remembered
It is certainly one of the best records to come out in 1996! To hear it again on vinyl is a trip down memory lane. So many good songs from start to finish. The quality of the vinyl met my expectations for the price, and I would definitely recommend it. Neither the music nor the vinyl will disappoint. Don't miss out on this great record!

Vinyl sound is clean and bordeline dynamic. Sounds analog.
While I realize this "first time on vinyl" pressing must be a digital mastering transferred to vinyl (it may not be, I'm just assuming since it's 20 years old), it really is a clean record and hard to tell it's digital, as the compression is very well masked. In fact, the music has life and breathes as it should. Maybe this is a testament to the original mastering quality? Maybe my cart/table are digging out nuances not heard before? Whatever, but it sounded so good (and slightly different) that it prompted me to A-B test it against the original CD. I may be too far into my own head, but if you were to tell me they remastered the album strictly for vinyl, I'd be inclined to believe you.

Great Album - Great Live - Here's To Life!
Even thought the Refreshements are not officially together, you can still catch two of the originals combined with great guitar and bass live as Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers. This album started my love for this band more than a decade ago. This album was made when they still thought about albums and not just songs, it has a flow to it that you require from a good album. Listen to a few of the songs from the Refreshments on Prime, if you like the tempo of the music the song writing will impress you.

A must-have album.
My daughter introduced me to the music of the Refreshments a number of years ago. I was amazed!!! I have heard some good songs in the last few years, but never a great rock album. You are lucky with most CDs if it has 2 or 3 good songs on it; the rest is trash. This is most definately not that sort of CD. Every song on this album is good; some are simply great! I really like the variety in the music. Some are relatively slow and mellow, but most simply ROCK. What really stands out is the clever tongue-in-cheek lyrics and an amazing guitar player. I have loved rock music since the 60's. This is one of the all-around best I have ever heard. It is a pity that the Refreshments are no longer around.

They are great band and this album still holds up for that 90s sound.

Excellent pressing
This is one of my favorite albums of all time. I got the vinyl, but I did not have high expectations. I was delighted when this pressing was clean and the sound was very full and dynamic. Well done and more than just shelf-candy.

On the fence.. Definitely good.
I am almost positive this record was made from an old shoe.Terrible mix. Sounds like a warp was cast into the press. Mastering for vinyl was non existent. However, I think it’s worth the cash if you are not an audio snob. I have a super nice system, so it shows imperfections easily. If a warp or campfire vinyl is not in your level of tolerance, don’t do it..Again, I personally say it’s worth it, just to have in your collection.Such a great album. Still cool to be able to throw it on the table, instead of streaming. Really wish they would have done a better job on this pressing. -MOFI, are you listening?!!-

Great start to finish album
Great vinyl copy of a great album. My cd version has so many scratches from road trips that it no longer plays, looking forward to cranking this in the backyard next summer
