A great new way of telling the story
Bought for my husband, who loves the book. It is apparently much closer to the book than the TV series was, but has still been subtly re-engineered for the format. I do prefer it when this happens as often small things in the plot dont translate well between mediums, so Id rather a change than it be crowbarred in!For those who haven’t read or seen the other versions, this is the story of what has happened in the day to day lives of all the gods the people who populated America brought with them. Its not for the faint hearted, with strong sex and violence at times, but behind it is a tale of a man finding himself and picking himself up from rock bottom when, at the start of the story, he finds himself suddenly and unexpectedly alone on release from prison. Some great characters who, mostly being gods, are obviously a bit different to the usual people found along the way on a road trip.

Ends at the end of the 2nd TV series
I should have read the description, I thought it covered the whole book but it just ends at the end of the 2nd TV series. Bought as a present for a fan of the book I will keep it myself.Nothing wrong with the illustrations and such, just a bit disappointing that it came up short, like a full English without the sausage or black pudding.

Simply Stunning
Such a great story in impeccable comic book/graphic novel form. The story itself is riveting and genuinely original - especially given how rare such things are these days - Gaiman is a master of his craft, and it comes through no better than in 'American Gods'. Realistic dialogue, intricate plotlines, thought-through characters; all bound in some stunning art; I mean really beautiful pages. Thoroughly recommend for fans of fantasy, myth, Neil Gaiman himself, and graphic novels just a bit on the alternative side.

Better than the TV Series
Great art and you already know how awesome the story is. American Gods is one of those books that just feels like it means something. I am continually annoyed at how many liberties the TV version takes, so was pleasantly surprised to find the comic book adaptation was quite faithful, and the characters looked more or less how I imagined then when reading the novel.
