The best active headphones I have tested, fit well, sound great and cheaper than the X2
I tested 5 sets of Bluetooth headphones between $25 and $125 to find that perfect pair of headphones for running and workouts. I tested the following,Jaybird X2 ($125, average overall)MEE X7 Plus ($100, best higher end set)Bluephonic Wireless Sport Bluetooth Headphones ($60, poor overall)Phaiser BHS-730 ($36, best budget set)Anker SoundBuds Sport ($25, poor overall)tl;dr review of the MEE X7 Plus: The X7 is my recommendation for a highend part of active Bluetooth headphones. The sound quality is as good as the Jaybird X2 but is much more enjoyable. Good range, controls and excellent fit round out all the essential attributes of an active Bluetooth headset and I strongly recommend this for any one looking in this price range.Detailed ReviewBuild, appearance, accessoriesThe MEE X7 looks the part of an active headphone and the build feels as solid as any. The accessories are basic, but have everything you need. It includes 3 sizes of silicone earpieces, a short (~6in) charging cable, a detailed manual and a carrying case. I do think the case is a little small and it feels like you are crushing the headphones a little to get them in the case (though I don't think any harm will come to them this way)ControlsThe X7 uses a standard 3 button inline remove for controls. One button is pause/power, the other two handle volume and track navigation. The buttons are large enough to easily find and use while running and I've had no serious concerns or issues with the controls.Fit/StayPotentially the most important of all the factors. I tested the headphone fit and stay both while running (couch to 5K program on a treadmill) and with a series of body weight exercises (think pushups, sit ups, ab exercises etc, this require both standing, sitting and laying positions).General Fit/Stay: The X7 uses a different design than any other sets I've reviews, but the memory wire solution works very well, it keeps the earbuds firmly in my ears. The first time you try to put them on may be confusing as both myself and a friend who tried them struggled with the first application. The clip on the cord helps manage the cable and it works ok, could be better, but with how short the cable is, its not a serious concern.Running Stay: These stay very well while running. I've have yet to have them fall out or move very much. They do pick up some noise from my steps, but I do not believe it is any worse than others.Workout Stay: The X7 also does very well here. The short cable stays out of the way while stretching or moving between the floor and standing positions. I still wish it was a little better, but I would consider it the best of the 5 I tested.RangeRange was tested by putting my iPhone 6 in my office and walking away from it until I reached a point where the sound dropped or cut out. Testing was done with a full charge on the earbuds. Measurements are approximate and I notate when the signal had to go through walls (drywall). I repeated this test using my hand to cover the receiver on the earbuds, again with three cardboard boxes over my iPhone (to simulate the phone in a pocket, backpack etc) and then finally with both my phone and the ear bud receiver covered.Unobstructed range: Around 35 feet and through 3 walls, tied for the longest range.Transmitter blocked range: About the same, tied for best of the 5 tested.Receiver blocked range: Around 27 feet and through 2 walls, tied for 2nd best. Both blocked range: About the same, tied for best in the group.Overall: The range numbers from the X7 are very good, easily tied for best of the group. I wouldn't be worried about range issues until reaching at least 30 feet or more.SoundI consider myself an audiophile, so sound quality is something that I both care about and appreciate. My normal "pleasure" listening setup is lossless CD quality music files (FLAC), a Fiio X7 music player and a pair of Ultrasone Pro 900 headphones. Its fair to say the none of these headphones live up to that quality, but I try to provide a honest and "usage appropriate" review of the sound of these earbuds. All sound testing was done with these earbuds, with iTunes store quality music (AAC, 256kbps) streamed from my iPhone 6.Quality: The sound quality is very good, equal to the Jaybird X2 and noticeably better than the cheaper sets I tested. The sound is clear and pleasant to listen to. Large, loud and/or complex pieces of music do not produce the muddy sound present in the cheaper sets.Enjoyment: This is where the X7 really shines against the Jaybird X2. The X2 has very boring sound (weak bass, strong treble) but the X7 has a strong, driving bass and is exactly what I want while working out. Combine this with the high quality and these actually sound very good, easily the best of the group.ConclusionThe MEE X7 isn't without some weak points (fit isn't perfect, case is too small) but it is clearly the best set I have tested. Excellent and enjoyable sound along with the strong fit makes this stand out in all the places it needs to. I would strongly recommend this to anyone looking for a set at this price range and would strongly recommend it over the more expensive Jaybird X2.

Perfect for fitness IF you have short/no hair
For physical activity, these headphones are the best I have found. I normally have issues with the in-ear, ear-wrap type because my ears are too small and they don’t actually cup my ear but the memory wire on these really does allow you to conform it to your ear! They stay 100% snug on my ear while doing all exercises. The sound is excellent and, unexpectedly, these headphones block outside noise better than any pair I’ve ever had. I literally cannot hear ANYTHING but what I am listening to when I have them in.I do have a couple of issues, though, so you may want to weigh them against how you plan to use the headphones. First (and not necessarily a bad thing), because they are so snug I find that I cannot quickly remove an earbud to hear what someone is saying to me (something I do often at work). I find the “skip” function to be more work than others because you have to push and hold the “up” button for each and every skip (with other headphones I can just push and hold the skip button until I get to the next part I want to listen to which is great for podcasts or audiobooks whereas with these if I want to skip 3 times then I have to push and hold three separate times). The on/off is annoying to me – it’s an obnoxious, loud voice saying “POWER ON; CONNECTION SUCCESSFUL” which is more than I need and I haven’t found any way to lower the volume of the voice. I turn them off and on while not wearing them to avoid it. Probably my biggest complaint for these is that the rubbery/grippy material that goes around your neck (which is great) sucks for people with long hair. Without fail, if I put these on without having my hair up and out of the way it WILL rip out several strands. One last problem I have with this idea is that I have been told during phone calls that I am difficult to hear. If you plan to be on a phone with it a lot, it might not work for you.So all in all, when I exercise my hair is always up and I do love these headphones for their snugness, comfort, and sound quality. I would not recommend these for someone with hair longer than your ear lobes if you plan to wear them casually with your hair down.**Update** I continued trying to use these but found that even with my hair up it was inevitably getting tangled with the "s" shape wire holder and material in general. Also, I often like to put on my headphones while lounging on the couch and I just could not find a comfortable position to rest in. Considering these issues and everything I've mentioned before, the product should probably be given 2 stars but if you're someone with short/no hair and who plans to only use them during physical fitness then these may be a good choice. I sent my pair back. After returning these, I went to Walmart and found a pair of BlackWeb wireless headphones that so far are impressing me in every aspect including the low $25 price tag. The fit is perfect (it uses the outer-front ear creases to stay snug and comes with 3 sizes in addition to the usual inner-ear pieces in 3 sizes)! Maybe check those out if you're having a tough time finding what you want.

Definitely worth the money - great sound
I feel I need to stick up for these headphones after looking at these reviews. I have nothing but praise for these headphones. I've had them for coming up to a year and have had no problems at all with them. They stay in my ears and they sound great. If you aren't getting a good base sound from them then you don't have them in properly. Play a song with bass then twist them slightly until you get a good bass beat, it will happen you just have to have them in correct position but they will stay in that position so don't give up. Also I nearly cried the other day, I'd inadvertently put them in the wash and hadn't realised but thankfully even after that they still work and I've never had any problem with them dropping out. The battery life for me is good, I go running 3/4 times a week and use them for over an hour each time and I only charge them every 3 weeks or so and they don't take long to do. I'd recommend them highly.

Really loved these headphones for almost a year but now cannot ...
Really loved these headphones for almost a year but now cannot use them for the beach. Great sound, good battery life and very comfortable to wear for long periods too. They are very light and work well with the iPhone/iPad. The only issue is that they were purchased as moisture resistant (ideal for beach/gym) but unfortunately the rubber seal for the usb socket has perished (11mths) and they can no longer be risked in a humid or damp environment. At around £80 I would have hoped they would have had a longer useful life!

Great headphones, great value for the money!
These headphones are fantastic! They pair easily, they fit the ear perfectly and the battery lasts much longer than other models I've tried (Plantronics and JayBirds).I'm really impressed. The sound quality is excellent and if you ensure that they are properly fitted, the bass is good too.Just be patient whilst trying to first fit them. It takes some time to get them to 'settle'.

Stopped working after 9 months
Thought these were pretty good initially, good sound, fit well, not too many dropouts etc. Liked them enough to buy my wife a pair. But we have now both had the same problem with them not switching on, not connecting and showing as charged when they aren’t. Followed online instructions for a hard reset which got them working again temporarily but they soon stopped again. Now useless and a waste of a lot of money.

The quality is amazing. The sound is amazing
The quality is amazing. The sound is amazing. But the fit is not at all sturdy. In that sense it defeats the purpose, especially when it is not so easy to put or fit. The price point is fair, but I would expect a much better fit.
