Love this butter dish!
The kids had broken the top of my last butter dish. I had a really hard time finding a sturdy butter dish that had low sides for easy cutting of butter yet sturdy. I first looked at stainless steal but most of their designs prevented being able to easily cut the butter or were too big. This one is perfect and fits a stick of butter nicely. It even has a lip/edge to keep the butter in place and the top from sliding off easily. This thing is solid and quite heavy for a butter dish and I expect it to survive for quite a while in our house of 3 boys.PROS:- Heavy/sturdy- Easy to cut butter (low edge lip)- Keeps butter cold for a long time on the counter/table- Fits a stick of butter perfectly without getting the top messy- Top won't easily slide offCONS:- Really heavy but that's also a plus as well.UPDATE (12-3-13):1.5 years later and I still love this butter dish! It has held up, hasn't broken (yet) and if it did break I'd buy a new one.

Chunky Butter Dish
I recently gave a wedding shower for 25 people and wanted to put butter on each of three tables. Alas, my butter dishes were broken, chipped or etched by the dishwasher, all unsightly. I didn't want to spend a lot on butter dishes that would be used only rarely, so the BIA butter dish perfectly suited the occasion. They are a bit heavier and kind of chunkier than I expected but the price is very appropriate and the appearance is sufficient. The design is clean and simple so the dish looks at home with all of my sets of dishes. The larger mass of the item tends to help keep the butter cool longer so that is actually a plus in Minnesota in July.

I've had this and another similar butter dish before. ...
I've had this and another similar butter dish before. One had a little knob on the top of the lid; the other was plain. I preferred the plain top, and I thought that's what I was getting with this replacement dish but I was wrong. The photograph should show the knob on top.

Better butter
This is an attractive and functional butter dish. It is a bit heavy, and one cannot see the butter inside since the cover isn't transparent. But it seems relatively easy to lift the top off, as opposed to some other dishes that slip thru the fingers due to the extreme slant on their sides.

Classic
I wanted a basic butter dish in white. It seems to be of a good quality. It fits one stick of butter. I like the classic white color. It serves its purpose well. Reasonably priced. Would recommend to anyone looking for a white butter dish.

classic, like it says
just like the name - this is a "classic" butter dish. not much more to say. some people said it didn't fit their butter. seems to fit normal size butter for me. but maybe those shorter fatter sticks would touch the wall some. works for my purposes!

Heavy and nice to look at but
The problem with this is that the lid is very heavy and there is no handle. My husband has almost dropped the lid down on to the plate, which would have broke it i am sure. We are trying to come up with a small handle we could glue on top. Just haven't found one yet. Such a shame that it was not designed with a handle.

Mine has a handle
For some reason, mine came with a little knob/handle on the top of the lid. Other than that, it is nice and what I expected.

Damaged!
Bottom plate chipped, even though it looked to be well packed.
