IdeaWorks Kool-Down EVAPORATIVE Cooler, Black

My $26 version came, promptly (prime), no damage. These reviews had caused me to try to cancel the order, but, too late. My reasons were the very negative reviews and that it did not include the AC power supply.... I had a 6 pack of C Bats, so I decided to try it, even tho' the reviews seem to indicate it to be junk. My situation is: 92 years old, with very poor leg/foot circulation, resulting in permanently COLD FEET. so, I have a heater at my feet all day. Problem, this also heats my upper body and head with warm dry air. So far, my new little Kooler, on batteries, has provided my face and head a pleasantly Kool light breeze, with none of the problems listed herein........However, the life of the Kooler is still of concern, and may yet determine its ultimate fate/return. If it is as sorry as some have found, I will get bucket full of cold water, hang a wet wash rag from the wire lifter into the water, and place an electric fan to blow the resulting cold air into my heated, elderly face.

I really didnt think it would cool my room any... I was just looking for something to blow some cool moist air on my face as I slept. Works just fine to do that.I didnt like its lack of power when using batteries... but with the adapter (which doesnt come with the machine.. which I think it should have).... it worked just fine and is whisper quietI would not tell anyone to buy this if they are actually expecting to cool off a really hot room..and I wouldnt buy it again

the motor does not last very long I bought this as an extra unit to replace the one that I had to modify which will eventually deteriorate to can't fix or unusable, this is something you are going to want to purchase extra motors on eby and buy viscose felt to cut and make your own replacement filter it works really well with a little stronger motor and the little bit thicker felt material for the filter Update 3/7/16The fan just died after only about 5 days of off and on use

I don't like it

First, the overall fan so weak that past a foot or so, you won't feel anything even at highest setting. Unless you keep the device right next to you, it has zero effect and even then the fan itself is too weak to provide actual relief.Second, the evaporative effect is a complete joke. The "cooling" mechanism is supposedly generated from the air flowing across six strips of fabric that are about 6 inches in length and spaced about 1 inch apart. This is one of the most idiotic engineering failures I have ever seen. There is very little surface area for the water and air to interact as the strips are about a half inch in width and as mentioned, 6 inches in length AND greatly spaced apart. I don't know why the designers thought this better than one large rectangle, which is what most evaporative coolers use.As it is, not only is the air current ridiculously weak, but given the poor engineering, there is really no noticeable cooling effect.Waste of money and time- avoid.

The air that came out was very cool, but the fan was too weak to make any real difference. If a stronger fan were installed, it could be a great product.

The batteries only last a few hours. We got a 6Volt cord and that worked well. It blows a little colder than the air around it. Not very powerful, the fan is small, but not bad.

This DOES cool, a very small space (which is what I needed it for). But it does not come with a power adapter. Batteries only! And 4 C batteries lose their charge pretty quick. You can buy a power adapter separately and I highly recommend doing so!

The low power is quite low, less that I thought it would be. However the high power is great.The one thing you do not have on the site is that this is battery powered, I had assumed it would be aplug in and this almost led me to return it.

Good little air cooler - gives a refreshing breeze when located on a bedside table at night!

Very small which was good. But does not do enough power like I thought it would.

Doesn’t really cool the air, even when following the instructions. Also is quite noisy so in this hot weather, haven’t been able to use in bedroom as the noise is too much
