gLink is a good add-on device to upgrade your old garage opener to be smart, controlled by your smartphones. gLink co-exists with the current wall switch and remote controller. gLink works with most of garage openers, but isn't compatible with MyQ/Security+2.0 models for Chamberlain/Lift Master/Sears/ and Series-3 wall console for Genie/Overhead. Very easy to check if gLink works with your garage opener before you buy it: use any conductor wire to short the terminals on the opener for wall switch, if the door respond then gLink works for your opener. Not only open/close the garage door with your phone easily, it can control the major opener's light as well, that is the unique feature in the market. If your opener is major model of Chamberlain/Lift Master/Sears/Genie/Overhead which wall switch has a button for light, gLink should work with your opener for light control. For one garage opener, you need one gLink installed on it for supporting App/Phone to control. One gLink supports up to 10 users, and one App/phone supports unlimited gLinks/doors. With gLink, the whole family can open/close the garage door by their phone. If you have more doors or more houses/garages, you can use one App to control all of those doors after you activate/registered, that gives you more convenience. There is an extra feature to check the status of the garage door (open/close) on the App if you connect a wired door sensor to the gLink when you are within the range of gLink signal, not anywhere in the world. The door sensor doesn't come with gLink, you need to buy it separately and please contact the seller if you need it. After installing gLink, you can also use existing wall switch or remote controller to open/close the garage door.

Simple, straightforward, and useful
All I wanted was a simple way to open my garage from my phone. I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars of an opener that required setting up another network, or deal with complicated software.Installation was simple. A few tips:- Your garage light will turn on, or off, when you connect the wire.- It might take a minute or two to charge up before you can connect your phone.- The best way to get the longest range is to not mount it on your opener. The metal shield will block the signal.

Just be sure to know what you are buying here. It's advertised features work great!
As long as you know what you are getting, this is a great product. If you purchase just the gLink device (no sensor to detect openings and no Internet gateway to remotely open/close), you can only open/close when you are in Bluetooth range with your phone. The app also has no clue if the door is open or closed (without the optional sensor), so this causes your phone to behave exactly like a dumb remote opener. I actually like this, as someone could hack an online account to open my garage door with an "Internet of Things" solution.Installation is super easy, and app setup is a breeze. Just know what you are getting here and you shouldn't be disappointed. Also, the device is much smaller than I was expecting (and very light).

Trust me, you want this!
Like some others who have commented, I connected it to the button on the wall instead of going right to the opener head. Installation took no more than 5 minutes, start to finish. Installing and configuring the app was maybe another 5 minutes. The gesture thing doesn't seem to work for me. [UPDATE: After playing with it some, it works, but not consistently]. The ad doesn't mention this, but the gesture thing is a beta feature; if that's really important to you, factor that into your decision. Also, there seems to be some way that I could hook to a sensor of some sort; it sounds like maybe it's supposed to tell whether the door is up or down. I can live without that, but if the creators of the product happen to read this more details on the website would be helpful. [UPDATE: upon re-reading the info on the website, it seems there is a sensor, and possibly a "gLink Pro" that comes with the sensor -- and yes, in order to tell whether the door is open. I sent an email to the company asking if there was an upgrade kit; they responded that the intend to have a sensor that can be added soon, and would let me know when it was available.][UPDATE: I mentioned above that I sent them an email. I sent it after midnight, took the dogs out for their pre-bedtime roam about the yard, and when I came back in 20 minutes later, I had a response. Not a robo-response, a real one. Very impressive.]The main things though: easy to install, easy to use. No more dead batteries in the clicker, or re-synching it after replacing batteries. No worrying forgetting and leaving the car with the opener in the driveway. Easy to give access to the kids, the pet-sitter, etc. And for less than the cost of the replacement clicker we would otherwise have needed.

Great item, reasonably price, awesome support
Quite simple to install; could require slight modification of your existing door buttons (a quick removal of the LED lights). Alex was amazingly quick and responsive via email with Q+A. I hooked mine up via the wall buttons instead of climbing to my openers, 15' up; way simpler and just as effective.

The app is no longer available on the Apple app store
This has been a good product for four years, but I just replaced my iPhone which made it useless because the app is no longer available on the Apple app store. Apps are not backed up to iCloud or computer. Instead, Apple downloads them from the app store. But, in this case, the store reports the app as no longer available. Not good! I will have to replace this device with one from another company.

tested it and it worked like a charm
I just received it today. Had to read the instructions and splice the wires to extend them. But after that it wasn't too difficult to install. I had a craftsman garage door and they had color coded only the red. But I got it working the first try. Once the wires were in place, the glink light turned blue. Then I held the tiny button on the glink for 10 seconds and the light came back on. Next I downloaded the app, tested it and it worked like a charm. Small delay from instruction to execution but the convenience is worth it. Installed it on all 3 iphones in the family and now we feel like we are set. Worked fine on all three phones after following instructions on how to set up additional phones. Very pleased with the purchase especially because I got it on a lightning deal!

WARNING! Bad design defect makes this insecure!
First let me say this has worked flawlessly with my iPhone for a year with no issues until last night. My home lost power for several hours during the night until it was restored around 3am. When I went to my garage this morning the door was wide open! Fortunately no tools, etc, appeared to be stolen, but I'm very fortunate that's the case. Like most neighborhoods, thieves patrol our streets for opportunities like this. I just got lucky.I'm an electrical engineer so I immediately started to diagnose the defect. The flaw in the design is the lack of a battery, something I originally considered a nice feature. What happens during an extended power outage is that the device gradually discharges the power it keeps stored temporarily. When power is restored, the device starts to recharge again, but that also appears to the garage door opener as a button press. Bingo! Door opens! Mine is now in the trash and being replaced with a battery powered unit.

AVOID this!!!! - you may be locked out of you home
I am not sure what happen but all of the sudden the app did not open / respond. I deleted the app and re-installed a newer version. The app now does not respond to the g link device and I am unable to open or close my garage using this device. Called for support but they are not very helpful - instead just saying to reset to factory setting and retry. I have tried numerous time and gotten the same results. What a piece of junk - didn't even last a year.
