Great for Fun, Effective Exercise
This is a great weighted hula hoop. I've been using one myself for almost two years now, but my fiancé wanted to start using it, so I got this one for him for Christmas. It's actually better padded than the one I bought for myself a couple years ago, and I think he will like it a lot.A word of advice to first time weighted hula hoop buyers. A lot of people complain about using these making your stomach sore, and so they stop doing it. Do not let this discourage you. It is generally just because your body is not used to it. This happened to me the first time or two as well, but I would simply use it every few days at first, and after about a week or so, it didn't make me sore anymore. Now I've used it for 45 minutes straight and can use it daily without any problems. You just have to let your body adapt.I've read somewhere that using a weighted hula hoop burns approximately 7 calories per minute. That means that when I used it for 45 minutes, I burned approximately 315 calories. There are definitely other forms of exercise which burn more, but I find hula hooping to be lots of fun too, so it's a huge win-win.

Maybe a bit too solidly made...
I thought people were being hyperbolic when they mentioned the product left bruises, but it actually does cause visible bruising. It's a good product, easy to use, easy to assemble, and seems well made. If you don't mind bruises, it's a good workout. Wearing a thick sweatshirt seems to help with the pain, but certainly makes it harder to keep the hoop in motion.

Fun Exercise
I love hooping and this weighted hoop is great for a work-out. It takes a little while to get used to, as you build up your back muscles. I was sore for a few days until my muscles got familiar with the new activity. I hoop in 10-15 minute intervals, with weights in between and this is my favorite hoop so far. It's easy to assemble and take apart and the soft covering makes it easy to start hooping without hip pain - sometimes I find a new hoop can grate on the hip. This one never did. 3lbs doesn't seem like a lot until you are spinning it around your middle! It's good exercise.

Hurts me...
It was easy to put together and it stays together. Just make sure it clicks into place. It's easy to take apart and has a nice box to store it in, when not in use. It's easy to use. But it hurts! Not because of the workout, but because of the actual hoop itself whipping into my sides as it goes around. I don't know how people use this. They must have thick skin. I tried it twice and was able to tolerate it for less than a minute each time. Days later, if I press on my waist where the hoop hits, it is still very sore and tender. I don't bruise very easily but I imagine this would bruise many people, and had I kept using it, I'd undoubtedly be bruised. Perhaps I would do better with a lighter hoop, but now I'll have to pay $10 in shipping to return. Bummer.

Hoop to it!
Love it! The hoop snaps together very easily (make sure you hear the "click" when you assemble it otherwise it will come undone and go flying around your house) and it's a blast to use. Yes, it pounded me in my sides the first two times I used it but I didn't bruise and I guess my body got used to it because, after a few days, I didn't notice it anymore and, yes, it didn't come with assembly instructions but it's easy enough to figure it out. What I love about it is: (a) the challenge of keeping the hoop going without dropping it which takes my mind off of the fact that I'm actually exercising; (b) it gets your heart rate up in no time; (c) you can use the hoop to do an assortment of body stretches and arm exercises (do a search on YouTube); and, (d) I feel like a kid again when I use it.UPDATE: 11/29/17 Still hooping and loving it. It had gotten too easy, however, so I removed one of the sections and now it is (a) more difficult to keep it going and (b) spinning much faster, which works even better with the music I hoop to. So much fun!

It is a good purchase. The item is heavy (3 lb) and only 36 -37 inches by inner diameter. So you need to roll it more intensive than another item with bigger diameter. That way you have to make more effort and spend more energy, so lose more weight. It is very easy to install and nice to use.Plus soft texture and nice colors of the parts, which you can install in any order as you like.

The product comes in pieces and was easy to snap together
The product arrived on time. The box was intact and there was no damage to the packaging or the product. The product comes in pieces and was easy to snap together. There are not instructions or direction on how to use or helpful tips. I enjoy using this product but please know when you first start using it, it hurts. I have a few bruises. However, it is really fun once you get use to it and get good at it. It only took me a few tries to get the hang of it. After about five minutes my heart rate will be up and I start to sweat a little which I did not expect. I spin and run so I am in decent shape so getting sweaty after a few minutes of a Hula Hoop was not expected. I think it is a great product once your body adjust to it. I think it would have been nice if directions or helpful hits would have been provided. It quickly breaks apart for storage.

I love that it can change sizes
I love that it can change sizes. I think all eight pieces is too heavy and six pieces is just hard unless you can hoola hoop really fast. I use seven pieces and at first it hurt so bad. I did 15 mins spinning one way and 15 mins spinning the other way. I realized I am only really good at one way but after the second time it was easier to do it both ways. It will make you super sore the first time you use it. I suggest taking a day break after using it and try again. It is a little sore after that but by the third time, the pain was gone. Its nice because its a workout that you can enjoy with music so its entertaining. I can already tell my stomach feels a little tougher that I can handle the weight. It might help to wear a thick top so that it doesn't feel like its hitting you so hard.
