A Taste of Bengal in USA
Rossogolla is a delectable Bengali sweet whose origins are intermingled with the folklore of Bengali renaissance during the British Raj. though opinions are divided and contested on who invented which version, It is broadly agreed that it was Krishna Chandra Das ( K C Das), a legendary figure in the 1930s in Kolkata, who popularized this sweet and created the vaccum packed Rosogolla as a way to preserve and ship this delight all over India and today - it is often referred to as the National Sweet of India. As a Bengali and a foodie(can the two ever be separated?) , I have always prefered the KC Das version of the Rosogolla compared to the other brands like Haldiram's - it simply tastes more authentic !So it was a delight to find that K C Das Rosogolla is available for shipping , that too in Prime, by Amazon in US ! It arrived right on time and very well packaged by Amazon, as usual ! Breeze in opening it (pull open ) and there inside was the taste of Bengal !! The Rosogollas are a little smaller than what I have seen with the competitors but that was ok with me and they really tasted awesome with the right texture. Microwaving it for 10 secongs made it even better !! I kept the sweets with the syrup in the refrigerator and we all exhausted it in 4 days. The texture deserves special mention - spongy but not rubbery !!

Bangali delicacy straight from Dhromotola!
Yummiest delicacy straight from home. Loved it and this is going in my grocery list every month.Size- Moderate (like 3 rupees rosogollas back home). Wish these were larger, more like 5/6 rupees size.Taste- perfect. Did not feel like I was eating a rosogolla soaked in preservatives. Tastes better than the frozen varieties you get in the Indian stores.Texture- Soft. Typical North Kolkata made rosogolla. Not the improvised chewy "sponge rosogolla" kind. (I never liked the later.)To the seller- Thumbs up to the initiative. Looking forward to more varieties (Oh man I love your rajbhog).
