Reese 30156 Rail Kit Mounting Adapter , Black

The purpose of this thing is allow the use of any fifth wheel hitch with the Ford puck system. The best thing I can say about it is it works with our 17 Ford F350 dually and the price is not bad. We have a Trailer Saver air ride hitch which matched perfectly. The thing to keep in mind with any of these picture frame type adapters is they raise the hitch height about 2 inches. I had to set the hitch to its lowest setting to compensate. I gave it 4 stars because the adjustment of the cams that fit into the pucks is a bit fussy. A couple of them are either to too tight or too loose with no in between adjustment. That may just be the nature of the beast but I feel like there needs to be a fairly snug fit with the cams and it is just not possible. Too tight and the levers will not close.We did an 1800 mile trip with it and no issues. I do have a little banging noise on the hard bumps and the only the I can attribute it to is the looseness of a couple of the cams.

Love this product, a fraction of the cost on amazon.com vs an RV dealer. Two things to note if you buy this. First, when assembling it, read the entire instructions, including the post installation instructions that tells you how to adjust the fit. After assembling it, I was frustrated that it did not exactly fit the puck system, I have a 2018 F350 that this adapter was made for. After looking at the instructions again, it says the positions of the pucks openings can vary. I had to disassemble half of the adapter, loosen the feet, drop it in the puck holes, then tighten and finish assembling. Now it fits like a glove. Second, you will likely have to adjust your hitch to fit into the adapter. Mine initially did not fit, but after loosening the nuts on the hitch, it dropped right in. Tightened up the nuts and now we're ready to hook up and enjoy our 5th wheel this summer. FYI, if you go to an RV dealer, it'll cost over $600. Buy it here ;)

I have an F350 SRW diesel. This adapter worked great. It cost less than buying from a dealer and with prime I didn't pay shipping. There were some tense moments the night before my first camping trip when the holes for mounting the hitch were a little bit of a struggle to line up. May have been the hitch, can't say it's the adapter. Anway it was easy to assemble if you follow the instructions. Looks great and was a great deal. I borrowed my buddy's hitch last year when I first got my 5th wheel. In the pictures, the smaller adapter frame is the Reese adapter I bought from Amazon for my Ford. The other adapter is my buddy's from his RAM 2500. His adapter is much larger where the frame drops into the pucks, but that is because of the frame differences between our vehicles. Although the factory installed puck systems are nice, and leave you with a clean bed without the traditional rails, if you buy a hitch specific to your truck that drops into the pucks directly, you might have to buy a new hitch if you change vehicles. With a frame adapter it allows you to use the hitch in any vehicle. We took his hitch out of his 2016 RAM and mounted it in my 2012 F350. If he had a newer hitch that dropped right into the pucks in his RAM, I wouldn't be able to use it in my Ford if that makes sense.

This thing saved me. I was set on getting an Andersen ultimate ball hitch for my 5th wheel. I have factory pucks in the bed of my 2012 f250, and the previous owner had removed the turnball. So I purchased this to attach to the pucks and then attached the steel andersen ultimate made for rails. It made it sit higher than I would have liked, but very happy with the product. One of the holes didn't quite fit so I had to file it, but otherwise easy to put together and install (and I'm a middle aged single chick, so not exactly mr. Fixit)

Overall, a good product that works. You should be able to put it together if you can decipher pictures, but written instructions are lacking. You will need a one and a half inch wrench to tighten the nuts. You should know this before going in, because not everyone has a ranch that large. My biggest complaint is that it came missing 1 of the 4 end caps. They are purely cosmetic, but I would have liked to have had all four. I reached out to Reese yesterday and am awaiting a response.Update on 3/19/2018: Simply put, doesn't work. After 2 e-mails and weeks later, someone from Reese (Global Horizon) responded. I did finally get the end cap, but as I soon learned, that was the least of my problems. I went to install the hitch to the adapter today and the holes don't line up so I can't install the pins. After I carefully looked at the problem, I discovered that the side frame is welded higher than the cross frame where the hitch slides in. It is like this on 2 corners of the adapter. As a result the hitch wobbles and the mounting holes WILL NOT line up. I even tried drilling the holes slightly larger, but no dice. You can actually see where the paint rubbed off on the 2 high spots of the adapter. I will reach out to Reese, but don't expect them to do much since I modified the holes.

Works great. I found when assembling it, keep everything lose and put it in the mounts in the truck then tighten everything down. This helps line everything up correctly and aides in the ease of install and removal.

Easy to assemble, Fits and works well. My only point of concern was the treaded portion of the assembly was difficult because the treads were not clean. I had to purchase a 5/8th tap & die to clean the treads on two pieces prior to assembly. Once this was done the parts fit together perfectly.

Works great with my factory installed 5th wheel mount from Ford. I was able to use my old reese 5th wheel receiver with this kit instead of drilling and mounting the typical rails inside the bed. I am happy with the hitch adapter. The powder coating leaves some to be desired, several places where the powder did not bond to the steel and peels off with normal handling. Overall good product and saved me a lot of $$ from not having to buy new hitch to fit the Ford mounting.

Product fit perfect on our 2020 F250! Pretty good price too. Considering the company it's self couldn't get any until the new year!

Price seemed steep till I priced around and found this is both cheaper than most and very well built

I am definitely not a mechanic but it only took about 2 hours to assemble and install. Works well but it does raise your hitch about 1 1/2 inches. Far cheaper than buying a new hitch

Fits perfectly in my 2019 Superduty. Easy to assemble.
