efficacy of Xeragel on hypertrophic scarring
I had my nose pierced several months ago, and hypertrophic scar tissue (which is not a permanent kind of scar) started building up around the stud. I tried remedying it with saline soaking and chamomile, but it continued to worsen until the scar tissue completely covered my stud (which was very tiny). I finally replaced the stud with a larger one, which helped hide/press down on the scarring, and I also purchased this gel, as I had read some peer-reviewed research about the effectiveness of pure silicone gel on hypertrophic scarring. Within a few days of using it, the scarring had almost disappeared completely. Granted, some of the scar tissue may still be "hidden" by the stud—and I don't know if it would worsen if I put a tiny stud in again—but now my piercing looks completely normal. And I can still see that the scarring that was right above the piercing is gone now. In short, this product worked wonders, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who has hypertrophic scarring that they are trying to address.

Soothing healing and it works
A tiny tube! The product is very thick. Which for me was soothing and healing because I was applying it to a few places on my face which was scarred from a fall so these are abrasive wounds. Some still had raised feeling to them and were pretty red. After the first treatment the redness disappeared by 75% and I was surprised! So I've been using it for about 3 weeks and I'm seeing the worst scar looking a whole lot better. I did document with photos so when looking better I will might post them. The best part about this product and it's the most significant thing to know about this product is that it is made in the United States. The brand was recommended to me by a top plastic surgeon.

Cheaper but so sticky
I can’t wear this without using sheets or tape on top of it. Cloths get this stickiness and hard to wash them out.

I have used XERAGEL for a month. PROS, ...
I have used XERAGEL for a month. PROS, I think it does work. My scar from a breast surgery HAS dimished. CONS, It IS STICKY, and does not really dry, al least in the breasts, as they tend to sweat, and you cannot leave the scar without putting clothes over it all day long, obvioulsy. Maybe in a face scar it could be different. Another con is that each tube only lasts a week, as the whole of my scar was about 15 inches I guess, beeing a typical Inverted T scar from that type of surgery.

It DID help
It did help the appearance of my surgery scar. BUT... As others have noted, it is sticky and doesn't dry. I put it on at bedtime and it's still sticky in the morning. Since it's being used on my face, it can leave a sticky mess on my pillow, too.I did use the whole (small) container, tho. And it DID help!

it's an ointment alright
I have been using the Episof pump gel for 1 year now on both of my feet after surgeries and love that product but it is quite costly so wanted to try the ointment from Biodermis. I'm glad I bought only 1 small tube as it is so completely different from the expensive gel. It is sticky and doesn't spread very well and doesn't really absorb at all so will go back to the gel. I can not make any comments regarding efficacy of reducing scarring. The gel works really nice and happy with that, so I guess you get what you pay for.
