Product Description Stunning 2013 full-length from Mice Parade, a bright and vivid album that omnivorously references source material from across the globe and rebuilds it all into the distinctive, inimitable voice that Mice Parade has come to represent. Generally regarded as the solo project of New York's Adam Pierce - though Pierce often engages carefully-selected guest musicians for each release - Mice Parade is now in it's second decade: continuously shape-shifting, it's personnel expanding and shrinking, and it's influences and marker points becoming increasingly varied and widespread. Candela is the seventh album to bear the Mice Parade name, and marks an exciting new stop-off in the band's already musically greedy history. Review ''Mice Parade is an original, hovering over multiple traditions without disturbing any of them.'' --Junkmedia''Almost too consistently gorgeous.'' --Pitchfork''Pierce sinks his heart into his music, and while that may not manifest in impassioned yelping or big rock riffs, the exquisiteness of his playing and songcraft make it apparent.'' --Tiny Mix Tapes

I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed the entire thing
I bought this album because I'm a fan of Caroline Lufkin and she collaborated on parts of it. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed the entire thing, not just the parts she worked on.

glorious world music
Mice Parade (Adam Pierce) does it again - only even better. Beautiful melodies, strong, meaningful lyrics. Fabulous flamenco and classical guitar.

The Parade continues...
into the wonderful, inventive output that you would expect. Would give this album 4 & a half stars, but you can't. (The problem with five star rating systems). Sorry, I do not give five star reviews for anything (music, movies, etc.), because the only things that rate five stars earn it over time. Nothing is five star when it first comes out.

eclectic, eccentric, experimental indie music
9th album from New York band, a strange bunch who really deserve the "three e" (eclectic, eccentric, experimental) rating. "Candela" starts off with soaring waves of atmospheric feedback, and proceeds through funky electronic "no-wave" art-pop, noisy indie guitar splatter-jazz pop, minimalist & twisty electro-folk, hypnotic synthesizer instrumentals, ethno-flared percussion & horn driven tunes, and epic, building slow-pop. Of the songs here, there are four that I will never listen to again, four that I like, and two that I love. It's kind of like life.
