Great cable with multiple uses. Would recommend.
This has allowed me to use the microphone built into the cable on my headphones on my PC. The cable works great however your microphone quality will vary depending on the quality of the microphone in your headphones.Alternatively this has also been quite useful for excluding the microphone from my phones headphone jack. The mic on my travel earbuds is not nearly as good as the one built into my phone. Plugging my headphones into this and just using the green headphone piece has allowed me to use my earbuds without having to use the lower quality mic built into them.I would say the only down side I've experienced, which most of you will never need to worry about, is that if I plug the headphone jack into my mixer and the microphone jack into my laptop I get a light electronic static sound coming from the power on my computer. This can be fixed with either a better power cable, a different grounded outlet, OR a ground loop isolator plugged into the green audio end of this cable.

Not working? Read this.
Using this with my Mac Pro I noticed that the microphone of my headset gave no detectable signal. I discovered that this is because the "Line In" port of my computer is not actively powered, making it unsuitable for passive mics. Therefore, if your mic is silent, read the specs of your machine to determine whether it has a powered microphone port. Some PCs have both a "Mic" and a "Line In" port, but ports labeled "Line In" are often unpowered. In any case, the silence is almost always not the cable's fault. The solution for machines without powered audio jacks is simply to find a sound card that has one. The simplest and most compatible option is a USB Audio adapter such as the Logitech USB To 3.5mm Jack Audio Adapter . For audio buffs, the investment in a headphone amp might be more worthwhile, such the excellent FiiO E10 USB DAC Headphone Amplifier or the affordable ASUS Xonar U3 Sound Cards (XONAR_U3/UAD/B/A) . Almost any internal sound card (PCI / PCI-E) will also work; make sure it has a "Mic In" port and not just a "Line In".

Space saver
I have to carry many things in my laptop bag. The computer headset was too bulky, but I needed it for Google voice and VoIP to be connected. I also carried my blackberry headset as well. One day, it occurred to me that there might be an adapter, and after checking out few things, I decided to try this one since $1 can't do too much damage. At first, I was having trouble using this on my Windows 7 laptop, but I did not have any issue with Windows XP desktop. After a research, it was related to a driver issue on my laptop and got it working on my laptop.Pro's: Great price, can work with any wired-headset that came with any smart-phone.Con's: Audio quality. without any audio feedback playing, there is little static. All in all, it works well, and I didn't have to carry a bulky headset. Although I gave four stars, I would say it would be more like 3.5 stars. For those people who were having issue with this device, I would strong recommend updating the driver or check audio setting.

Works with my cell phone's headset
I was able to get this to work well with my PC using my cell phone's 3.5mm headset, in stereo, with working mic. The headset is for a Motorola phone.Curiously, I also have an Apple® branded headset/mic with a 3.5mm connector that looks identical, but it does not work with this product, nor does it work with my phone, nor does it work with anything but an iPod. I do not know why that would be the case; I would have called it a defective headset except that it works great with the iPod.I experienced the same behavior with another 3.5mm headset splitter that I've used, so I don't think there is any defect in this product; it appears to work well. This particular product has the two leads (headphone and mic connectors) running along separate wires about 12" from the headset connector. This means that your PC's headphone and mic inputs could conceivably be placed very far apart, and you'd still be able to plug in using this product.

It works, in a odd way.
Well, the cable isn't that good quality. Try not to touch it that much, that cable wont last as long.It works, but it doesn't work. I have to connect the cable first to my computer then my headset in a slow way, and keep doing this until I can hear my microphone in my computer. If I press any of the buttons of my headset, this will disconnect the microphone and I'll have to do this again.I'm fairly satisfied with the product, but if it doesn't work, just try enabling the hear yourself option in recording devices, and just keep disconnecting and connecting until you get the microphone to work.

Exactly What I Needed...
I have a very nice set of iPhone IEMs with microphone and Apple buttons (Ultimate Ears 600Vi). I wanted to be able to listen to movies late at night in my dorm room (which meant running a 25' 3.5mm cable around the room, thereby preventing the headset from working unless it was plugged in at a very specific angle and depth) and I also wanted to be able to get audio from Skype (on PC) from the 600Vi's microphone rather than the webcam. It took me a while to find this too. Apparently the magic search terms were "iPhone headset to PC," which gave the preferred results.Oh, and the keychain and loopy loop are great too. No, I am not kidding. They replaced my school branded loooong keychain which tickled my leg when I drove with shorts on, and the loopy one was great for my school ID which I constantly need to swipe to get in anywhere but the bathroom. I just used a hole punch on the card, and voila, no more searching pockets for school ID, just find my keychain and I've got it!Well done BlueMall; an excellent product, you'd think would be all over the place for <$5, and you guys are the only ones selling! I've just purchased a second for when I am at my parents' house.
