Cool paper models. Windup attachment needs adjustments.
My 8 year old was able to build BB8 independently. We used tape in some places to secure the model. I am disappointed in the windup toy -- as designed it will not stay in position. We adjusted the model with some wire to hold the windup in place and are happy with our modification.

Fantastic book and build your own droids for kids!
My 5 year old son is in love with this!! We bought it originally because it is currently the only book available on Amazon that has both BB-8 and R2D2 in it on the same page (he likes the droids...they are not so scary). It is basically a big cardboard box with a bunch of great stuff in it. There is a paperback book that explains about all of the droids in the whole series (that slides out easily by removing one piece of tape), a large sheet of stickers, a beautiful poster with pictures of all of the droids, and then the cutout droids to build. These are sort of like paper dolls for boys. The droids take a LONG time to build (1-2 hours each). They are not difficult....in fact they are very easy....but there are a LOT of parts to fit together just right. So far we have built BB-8 and R2D2 (picture attached) and here is my advice. Get yourself some fast drying super glue, clear tape, and double sided tape BEFORE you begin. Follow the directions exactly. If you can't figure out which piece goes where, flip the paper sheet over....there are word clues printed on the back of each piece that tells you if its for the right or left. The wind up wheels they include for BB-8 and R2D2 are great, but they don't stay together very well in the droid once its built. As you are putting those pieces in, use some super glue to secure the two plastic pieces together. Once you have the entire droid built it is VERY difficult to go back and fix it when they pop apart. As you are putting the paper pieces together, tape everything as you go! Use clear scotch tape, and use tiny pieces. This will help immensely! The paper design is very well done, but if a child is playing with the droids, they will fall apart without being taped. In the photo attached you will see we taped everything, and these have held up very well to my 5 year old boy who is not gentle with his toys.

Cool but a lot of work.
Made for older kids and adults. The amount of detail involved in folding is beyond most grade schoolers (and required significant time from an adult). But cool looking end result (with lots of tape on the inside to keep all the little tabs staying together).

The book came with a tear on it but kept it for the droids inside and it was for Christmas so I didn't have time to return it.

Not recommended (even if you are a degreed engineer)
Please don't attempt to build this. If you see this, run the other way. I made the mistake of attempting to build this with my grandson. He had this since xmas (mid-April now) and brought it with us on an overnight camping trip. After more hours than I care to admit, and the use of several different colored rolls of duct tape and toothpicks., this (see picture) is the result. It is barely recognizable when compared to the "studio professional" photos on the box. The assembly itself requires the patience of a monk (actually, if the pope built a few of these, he might be driven to curse and throw things at people). Seriously, the several hundred thin cardboard tabs that must be methodically pressed into place more often than not rip or slip out of place. The plastic base of one of the two robots broke off a pin, and the other just would not fit. But, hey, the duct tape does help a lot as you can see.

Five Stars
This was purchased as a Christmas gift. The child was very excited receiving it.

Fun.
Box says for 3 years and up but I would not recommend this for a child. It not easy to put our there and would require a lot of adult help. I love it once they are done and it is fun to put together but I would no buy a child.

Arrived in good condition. No issues there
Arrived in good condition. No issues there. With the product itself, it is very fiddly, and rips easily - particularly BB-8. The instructions aren't completely clear, but easy enough to figure out. Not recommended if you don't have patience. But they do look good once completed.
