The Old Farmer's AlmanacOrganic Tomato & Vegetable Plant Food Fertilizer (Covers 250 Sq Ft - 2.25 Lbs)

So far it's too early to tell what effect this product will have on my veggies since I just used it the past few days (here in the north, early July would be the first side dressing of the year). As far as value is concerned, I have yet to determine if this fertilizer is cheaper to use than my home-made stuff. I doubt if it will be more effective, however, it's certainly easier to use. I always try to be as frugal as possible, so the price of $12.59 for 2.5 lbs. I consider high, especially considering I exhausted the whole bag on one fertilization of my garden, i.e., 8 - 24' rows. I used approx. 1 tsp./plant trying to follow the bag's directions, i.e., 2.5 cups/ 100 sq. ft. I don't know about other gardeners, but I always find "...covers approximately 250 sq. ft." quite unhelpful since I fertilize each plant individually and do not broadcast fertilizer as I would with, say, manure. By my calculations, it would be closer to 3/4 tsp/plant (Caveat: I am not a mathematician so my calculation might be off). Perhaps if I step back and consider that I was able to fertilize a large part of my garden - approx. 128 plants - for just under 13 bucks, about $.10/ plant, it doesn't seem so bad. One of the things particularly attractive with this stuff is the 8% nitrogen. I've had difficulty finding organic stuff with this level of N in our local stores. I will add to this eval. if I notice my plants doing remarkably better with this stuff.

This stuff smells but it damn sure works and worth the buy !

Price ok but don’t know how it worksgood little

It helped my flowers bloom and vegetables grow. I had been using another brand but I think not much came out while using it through the hose. This was easy to spread by hand and I saw blooms and vegetables very soon after spreading it!

Easy instructions/applications. Smells good enough that my cat broke into the bag.. it’s my first growing season so I don’t know how much of a difference it’s making versus not using it, but things are growing so I’ll assume it’s doing its job!
