Annotated Sandman Vol. 4: The Sandman #57-75 (The Annotated Sandman, 57-75)

Slowly working my way through the series. I LOVE Sandman. This edition is like reading it for the very first time again. What a great work. With Gaiman, I always feel there's more that I haven't grasped yet, an allusion or evocation that I have overlooked, another layer of meaning to discover. Annotation can be very illuminating, in the best ways. Highly recommend the series.

My expectations will be different from any one else. This book and its mates were bought for my little sister, who, like me loves all Neil Gaiman works. She was heading for another 6 week lock-up for a rare blood cancer. (This was the third time it had come back. When I went to her home the day she died, she had all 4 volumes, and only #34 was opened, with a page marker towards the end. Not sure why she started with 4, but I got daily text about how great it was. Texted stopped, died the next day.

In black and white, in English, in Spanish, in the recolored edition, it doesn't matter!!! Sandman is one of the best books ever written in any genre. If you're interested in Sandman as a first approach, you should buy the TPB, but if you're interested in all the references Neil Gaiman uses, this is you place to enjoy!!!

As a long time fan the Sandman comic book series, these annotated collections are a true must have for Sandman fans and collectors. I basically purchased these for my collection and at some point I will unwrap these books and read them through to look at all the additional information and notes that made the writers and artists make the choices they did in all the Sandman stories they told.
