Hotspot performs well but the instructions are lacking. The display wasn't working and it took a youtube video to find out why. Got that straightened out but it should have been in the instructions. The display is small so it's hard to read but the unit functions as it should.

After the initial setup of the Aursinc MMDVM Hotspot the hotspot was working fine connected to my WiFi router. When I added my smart phone as an additional AP, I could no longer access the configuration menu. Subsequently nothing would work, not even the OLED display and my router no longer shows the Pi-Star Hotspot in it's device list. I didn't want to change anything on the micro SD card that came installed with the unit, I flashed other cards (8gb & 32gb) that I had but they didn't work either. I followed all the instructions found on the internet and nothing that I've done until this point works, so now I'm suspecting that the Pi-Star hotspot is no longer working properly. You need to give me explicit instructions as to how to restore the OS and get it working again or replace the unit. It's frustrating because I've spent many hours over several days in trying to correct the problems and restore the unit to operating order with no success. Thank you.

The provided instructions worked well, but with some networking knowledge this is pretty much a no-brainer. I love that this runs pi-star out of the box, but this is definitely flashable if you'd like to use something else. I've been using it for about 6 months now and I love it!

This is a hotspot with a Pi Zero and it has the MMDVM interface (Pi-Star). The programming instructions were one page, clear, precise and easy to follow. I had it up and operating within 20 minutes. I did go down a rabbit hole with the mini HDMI port that was included. Apparently the Pi-Star won't output to the HDMI, so you wind up with a HDMI port that isn't very helpful. While you could potentially install a web interface, if you knew Linux, I didn't bother. I just used the web-based interface. I'm sure the HDMI was built in on the Pi Zero that Aursinc worked from, and wasn't added to the device for functionality. Very pleased with this smaller-than-expected but fully functional hotspot. I use mine for DMR, but it comes programmable for YSF, D-Star, P-25, and others.

Purchased this hotspot and a DMR radio and I have to say this product works great if you set everything right. This is my first DMR hotspot and I strongly recommend watching some videos to see how to get everything working.3 stars because the Ethernet dongle didn’t come with it as shown and the raspberry pi neo that is currently being advertised as coming with it extra wasn’t included either. The hotspot has a raspberry pi zero in it but they have a detail advertising you also get an additional pi neo

The Raspberry Pi included with this pi-star is low on system resources, so therefore don't expect outstanding performance from this unit. The board only has 512MB of RAM and a slow processor. Updating to the latest version of pi-star brings this device to a crawl. My best advice is IF you purchase this item, then do not update the software, which is a terrible idea. You're better off building or buying a pi-star with better system specs.It does work, but it's very slow. If this is your first pi-star it might work for your purposes. You will want a better model as you advance as a ham radio user on DMR and as a sysadmin.The product does what it's supposed to do, but not well.
